Calling Dr. Curve, calling Dr. Curve
Dr. Curve, my name is Harm Waterborg, and I have met you a number of times, mostly at the Georgia rally with my buddy and fellow pelican Bill Mundis.SmileWavy I don't ride a r1100s, but a couple of years ago Bill Mundis, Dan Green, you and I ran down some squids on what I believe was War Woman road. I may not be a brother of a different mother, but I believe we are made of the same stuff, and would greatly enjoy your input on riding spots in Florida. I am heading down there for the sun your bum rally in Venice from the Kansas City area, and I plan on staying for almost a week. I know Florida has flat, boring roads, but is there anything there that stirs your soul (curvy road, scenic road, been there done that road).;)

isn't this what PM's are for?
Just kidding. I hope you "find" each other. :) |
Hey,Welcome. I was on War Woman road with a group of friends in early Aug., killer road! I'm in so. fl. so I can't recommend any good roads on the left coast. Most of fl. is board flat, good place for a zx-14(my other bike). Some good roads around Gainesville & Palatka but that's in the upper middle. Nothing down here comes close to Ga./NC/Tenn mtns. unfortunately.

Venice, FL....good riding roads.....
For a cruiser maybe, but not for curves. |
Jim, your phone is ringing.:D War Woman Rd to 28 up to Highlands is one of North Georgia's finest and there are more. If you go much beyond the panhandle which we affectionately call LA (lower Alabama), I think you'll be spending a lot of time on the cloverleaf ramps to keep the side of you tires honed. Jim like the few giant sweepers of North Florida. If you you like the tight stuff stop off in WNC or North Georgia where it's still in the high 70's.:D

Hello Harm. Good to hear from you. I remember that day very well indeed. One of the great rides. SmileWavy
|
Yes that was quite a ride. Curve's statement "Let's go get 'em." still rings through my mind like it was only yesterday.
|
I guess I'll just have to take my time getting there by going the long way while hunting squids, and just spend the time in Florida on a beach getting sand in places that make it uncomfortable to ride home.
|
What are you riding?
|
I ride a 2004 Honda CBR 1000rr with about 70K on it. On Jim's pictures of the Falling Leaf rally, my bike was the red one on the right of Bill Mundis' yellow r1100s. I've been riding with quite a number of pelicaners. Mundis drags me all over the country and introduces me to you guys. I've lurked on the site for awhile to keep up on hot topics. I've ridden with Swartzy a number of times, CKCarr and others I don't remember at Paonia. Dan Green and Dr. Curve in Georgia. I see Jim at a number of good rallies, but he leaves too early in the morning for me to go riding with him. I have considered a r1200s, but my Honda has been a good ride, and I'm not ready to replace it, yet...

Almost forgot my other bike. It is my stop and smell the roses bike, dial it back a little while still dragging metal items all over the place. 1989 Honda GB 500. And no, I don't obsess over Honda. I like the seating position on the CBR (many iron butt days) and the GB was happenstance.

In Harm's Way |
Hmmm. Iron Butt on a CBR. You must have no nerve endings that function in your butt.:D I recognize your mug from GMR. You definitely need to hook up with PFFOG in WNC in the spring.:D
|
GB 500...I had one of those for about a month. Fun bike, but a buddy offered me a nice premium over what I paid for it. He kept it a couple of years and couldn't get rid of it....now you can't find a one. Times I wish I had bought it back, but then I remember the time a VW bug passed me.
