Can a worm ride a BMW?
Can Larry Pegram ("the Worm") take the S1000RR to the top of the box in AMA Superbike?

I would have voted between choice 2 and 3 but I went with 2.
A few podiums like a 2 1/2 choice. I don't think he'll be a consistent top 3. He's a good rider but that's my prediction.

Let's see if he can keep from burning the tires off the bike first.

Well, just look what Jeremy Toye is doing with the bike!
The boys from SD BMW are really gaining momentum and support... and Toye is an excellent rider. Fun guy, too... He'll make some more noise next year, I am sure... I don't see ANY reason why Pegram can't do the same in his class, if he has the support.

I'm not so sure Ralf. Toye has done well, but mostly in a big-fish/little-pond context.
And he's been all over on setup, muddying the results (and their forward-going applicability) Pegram of course is a stronger rider with a stronger program, but the competition he's up against, vs that of Toye, is a step function. I hope it works well though, as I'll be studying it intently to compare their chassis vs ours. It'll be fun for sure.

Yes, for the most part, that is the case, Roger... but he held his own very well during some AMA races at Laguna Seca during the MotoGP weekend. Going head to head with the big boys. He also did fairly well in Macau...
I hear you on their "consistency" and to help, I gave the SDBMW guys Uli Toporsch's email/number (one of the main techies of the BMW WSBK Team) and he might be able to help them out some with setup and Electronics. Within reason, of course, but still... I can see that there could be some support for Pegram, just based on who he is. It's a good thing for BMW that the racing interest in the S1000RR is gaining momentum and they will (can) not turn a blind eye forever. We'll see.
