Remus

Does anyone know if Remus "road legal" cans will fit onto the 2 into 2 race pipe work?

Basically they seem to be getting louder day by day and as they are not re-packable the road legal cans would seem to be the cheapest option!!

I don't want to buy a complete system (cost) and I don't want to put the standard one back on if I can avoid it (it's an ugly looking piece of kit - IMHO)

It's beginning to sound like there's no silencing at all !!!!

Cheers Paul.

Cool

I know when I put the Remus full race system on, the mechanic had to rebend the pipes to fit the placement of the cans. That added quite a bit to the cost, & was fairly galling considering the dollars involved to buy the system. I'm sure that you could source another set of race cans & the $$$'s shouldn't be that expensive as a lot of the manufacturing cost goes into the siamese unit. BTW, how many kilometres have you done with the present cans, so I know what to expect from my system ?. A cheaper alternative may be to look at a baffelectomy on the standard cans, & you can find more on this topic in the archives.

Hi Don,

My system fitted perfectly, maybe you where just unlucky. I bought the system second hand from a dealer (off a demonstrator) very cheap. I would guess it had done approx 1000 miles(it's in excellent condition) and i've added 6000 miles, so thats about 11200kms.

I actually love the sound, but I'm not so sure my neighbours and unsuspecting car drivers do. I'm also unsure as wether it is getting louder or I'm just noticing it more!

Acording to Remus the cans are packed to last for life using some kind of 'wire wool' type material.

I'm not sure what their idea of a lifespan is though!!!

Cheers Paul.

Hi Paul

I understand your concern regarding neighours getting crapped off with any undue noise. I live in the inner city of Sydney, & we have no end of vocals who will complain about anything.

I have noticed that the decibels from the Remus really increase when the rev's hit 4,000 & above. Consequently I normally just putter out of our street at very low revs, thereby trying to negate any hostile reaction from our neighbours, as the noise is definitely no louder than many of the cars that burn off. I have on occassion forgotten this aspect when returning from a good ride & come howling down the street, only to notice the little old grannies peering from their windows. Not sure whether they are annoyed or just looking to get their britches over the saddle & go for a scoot.
