Draining oil cooler R1100s
Just got a wild hair after 20k mile to drain the oil cooler with the service on the 05 R1100S. Not wort the hassle. Maybe an ounce. Just incase any one else was thinking about the process. I thought maybe a one way check vale was holding the oil in the cooer and lines. Apparently not.

Can't figure why you'd think that there would be a check valve in an oil cooler.
Although if you put the bike on the center stand and not on the side stand when you get home, you may find that the oil quantity reads low in the sight glass.

Check valve could have been there to prevent a drain back, similar to anti syphon in an oil filter to prevent aeration of the oil. I did not say it was in the cooler, but I suppose its possible. Maybe the thermostat would trap it there as well. At any rate seemed to drain out while servicing no need for the extra process. I think every one knows to read the sight glass with the bike level. But thanks for looking out for me.

These bikes have 2 oil pumps and are VERY good at hiding oil.
They were trained in Munich and tested to be the best at it... they also are very good at making you think that there might be oil in the obvious places... Enjoy the ride... don't think to much about it...
