Cool OT: New paint - K1300S (pictures!)

Well, as many of you know, I swapped my R12S for a K1300S recently. Bike is awesome; not quite the "cool" factor the R12S gives, but handles my compromises exceptionally well. But RED sucked. So I bought some unused panels that a guy in FL had painted with Porche 918 Spyder silver (platinum w/hint of titanium) in an 11 layer single-stage paint job.

Beautiful! Pics can never do justice but I managed to get some of my best point-n-shoot bike photos ever so I thought I'd share:

Enjoy!

JT

Paint is absolutely beautiful and the color looks awesome.

Is the saddle going to change, it does not quite seem to match? Or are you planning to add more accents to the bike that match the seat?

Wheel and body pin stripes always seem to help blend the use of boldly different colors.

Love it. I finally saw a magma red K13S in the flesh at Foothills BMW in Denver the other day and that's the color I think I have to have. I'm shopping hard, but need to sell my GS first.

The paint looks amazing. But that seat has to go. It probably looked good with the red but now it just sticks out like a sore thumb. Beautiful bike tho.

Thanks for the compliments! Yeah, some of you may have followed my main picture thread on I-BMW where we get into the seat more.

It's a deliberate color design choice that is definately polarizing. Some people hate it, some people think it makes the bike.

I, thankfully, think the latter. Regardless, it screams 'custom' and shouts 'different' and is a central part of the concept.

Honestly I hated it with the red but had it made specifically for the silver.

Thanks for your comments!

JT

Ps donb: the K-bike does everything I want except vibrate (sad, hunh?) - it an amazing machine and truly the most "complete" motorcycle I have ever owned. Hopefully it will last me 3-4 solid years!

I like the seat, but the rack looks kinda GSAish and kinda industrial looking for the bike.

Touratech Zega Pro Topcase 25L and Rack - K1300S Review (w/pics) - I-BMW.com

Yes, that rack is the only non-flexing back rack available for a K1300S. Since I commute I have to use it. It's a bit industrial looking but I'm ok with that on this bike with its exposed bolts.
