Complete 12/24K Mile Maintenance Kit For All R1100S Dual Spark Bikes
I was browsing the web for maintenance parts for my bike and came across this kit at BeemerBoneyard, and had a couple of questions.
Complete 12/24K Mile Maintenance Kit For All R1100S Dual Spark Bikes Now with 2 inner valve cover gaskets! Seems like a decent deal if you add up the prices of buying them separately,

The dual spark refers to each cylinder, not because it's a 2 cylinder engine. (read=each cylinder has two spark plugs).

I should have been more clear, the kit has two different plugs, two NGK and two Bosch

I've nothing to offer about the different plugs as I have a single spark bike, but I will offer props to BeemerBoneyard. I have purchased new and used parts from them including these maintenance kits and I find value in the convenience and certainly the speed - they almost always ship same day, and they are relatively nearby. If you ping them with a question you can expect a fast response.
This is a small-scale operation but you'd not know it by the quality of their service or their responsiveness. Great vendor. N.

Fast, upper and lower plugs in each cylinder are different.

I would keep the new gaskets as spares. I have done 3 valve adjustments and no leaks with the original set. They are pretty tough.

Gaskets usually do not need changing, except if you molest them when re-tightening the head covers. Plugs in the kit are OEM fit.
The beemer boneyard kit is very cheap and complete. I'd skip on the gaskets, if you are careful you do not need them. Buy one if you ever crush a gasket and it actually leaks. What are the quick disconnect o-rings for? I have found no quick disconnect under the tank. Is this for their AM quick disconnect kit ? Last edited by Meeni; 10-28-2011 at 08:02 AM.. |
