Talk about confusing...
Although, I have considered what BMW bikes would look slick with a Z4 side marker mounted behind the roundel on the fairing. It is an 82mm circle, not sure if that is the same as the motorcycle roundels or not. Obviously it would have a hard time working with a tank-mounted roundel, but it might work with plastics that can hide a wire lead. With bright enough amber LEDs inside, it might actually replace forward-facing turn signals on separate stalks. ![]() But I would need to get an R11/1200S, K1200R-Sport, or some other BMW bike with plastics, first. ![]() Somebody obviously already had the idea: But that isn't in any way stock, so I doubt that is what the original post is talking about. To be honest, I don't think anyone here knows what you are asking...
Be more specific if you can.

R 1200 S side light
Quote:
but doesn't say what or where side light is located or what its purpose is (it does tell you what the replacement bulb is, however) after much digging around, i find that side light is just another name for the marker light/parking light/3rd bulb in headlight housing....i'm told that this is a euro requirement that is done in lieu of the usa "always on headlight" and it remains as a vestigial item on the usa version of the bike Bruce R |

Is this what you're after?
Backlit BMW Roundel for R1150RT (Preliminary) - YouTube The headlight on the R12RT came on and then went out until after engine start. The side light remained on during the interim. Last edited by Guest24; 08-10-2011 at 05:41 PM.. |

The parking light can be forced on while the bike is off by turning the key vertical off (opposite to running engine).
I don't know the status of the law in the US, but the parking light is mandatory for all euro bikes. It last for more than a day without draining the battery. |

In Germany, the drunks know to avoid the parking lights. In the states, the drunks are attracted to the parking lights like moths to flame.
