That was my guess too but I don't remember him on Kawa.
Earned my High School Letter on that track. Yes we had a motocross team in High School.

that publication is called a one-shot. doesn't have a regular issue date and those are done whenever the publisher wants to kick one out. front and back covers are color, insides are printed on junk paper.
that is broc glover on the cover and on the back is Lackey, carlsbad, just after the horseshoe turn by the pit area.

i'm surprised you didn't find any old embarrassing images, like this one:

Lackey rode Kawi in 79 and 80, and won the title on Suzuki in 82.

Wiggled, winning your high school letter in motocross is one of the coolest things I could imagine. I remember reading those high school motocross articles in the magazines and cursed my location on the east coast. When I was in high school (70's) there were 3 dudes who raced; me, my younger brother and one other guy who actually got the both of us into it. There were a lot of guys who thought it was cool, but the biggest barrier were parents who thought it was dangerous, and the cost of entry (motorcycles!) Although at the time Honda had just released the Elsinore 125 and 250 (1974) which was about as affordable as it got, and as ground breaking as the release of the Cub in the early 60's in getting new users into motorcycling.

Corky, no we never flew any. He did take me to his hanger to show me some of his toys. I've got pictures somewhere.

He has a really cute sister, Tammy, who invited me back to go skiing but I didn't think that me wearing skies on top of a mountain was a prudent thing to do.

Bob Hannah sure has aged well. I saw him on that show "Cafe Racer" where he was the guest test rider on one of their builds. Jeez he looks the same as he did 20 years ago. Was cool seeing him on an old school cafe bike with clip on and rear sets.

Did U see the episode in which Eric Bostrom was riding the bike that had a front end/brake failure ? He went OTB and got all skinned up. Had levi's on.. Was not pretty.

Ok, Shreddr, here are more pics. Man, I had to do some digging to find the album that housed these pictures.

On the wall up the stairway to second level of his home were framed pictures of Bob and a framed cover of every magazine cover that he was on.



I thought I had better pictures from his hanger but these are the only 2 I could find. In one corner of the hanger he had built a loft with small living quarters, kind of like Mike Larocco has in his pole barn down the road from here.




Oh yeah, here are some pictures of Tammy. I told you she was cute. I enjoyed my time in the hot tub with her!
She married a few years ago and if I recall correctly, Bob said he gave her the home we stayed at in Ketchum as a wedding present.
