Blowout prices on new 2010 HP2 Sports

I was just flipping through my newest issue of BWMON, and BMW Motorcycles of Countryside has a full-page ad with some blowout pricing, including two new 2010 HP2 Sports for an advertised price of $20,468. The VIN's they show are 220, and 223. They're also showing 224, advertised as damaged, for $14,998. These are the latest VIN's I've seen, and probably the last of the bikes built for the US. If you've been itching for one of these, it might be time to jump in.

i guess blowout isn't what it used to be. or i'm missing something

if you compare his posted website price with the blowout price, it's a 3% reduction, $631.
if you compare it to the original price, two years ago when the bike was made, it's 20% off, a little over five grand.

maybe it's because i'm not in the market for one, but that price doesn't make me want to rush off and snag one before it's too late.
get it down closer to 17 and they've got my attention. bring it to 15 and i'm in.

i can confidently say this because i've seen every episode of pawn stars, so obviously i know all there is to know about price wrestling.

(insert face close-ups of both people not talking, accompanied by long silent pause, followed by handshake and someone saying "write it up chumlee").

Are those advertised prices supposed to sound cheap?

Used 2008 bikes are trading at $16-17k, and many of those don't have ABS, but I don't want to get into an ABS debate here. I would assume there's some negotiating room at their advertised price of $20,468, and these are for brand-new 2010 ABS models, and the last few of these bikes that were built. If you could buy one of these for less than $20k, and I'm guessing you can, I think that's a very good price relative to the used market trading range. At this point most of the used 2008's are out of warranty as well, and three years worth of warranty vs. no warranty is good for at least a couple $$ in my book.

Some of you guys are so tight you squeeze a quarter so hard the eagle screams!

Technology moves on however. And although you are buying a limited production bike, it is art more than technology at this point.

Old is old.

Like when I bought my Buell for $5,000. It was brand new too, but originally went for $12,750. And I did get the two-year warranty. But price had dropped...

That's a great quote, but with my heritage ( Scottish) I prefer to ask if you know how copper wire was invented?
It was 2 Scotsmen fighting over a penny.

I also believe that the cheapest thing on a BMW is the rider!

Cheers

To have your problems start all over again?... good move...

Joseph, you need to differentiate between asking price and actual SALE PRICE... the ones (used) that are out there with a $15k asking price are usually very loyal to their owners...

For $20,000, I'd buy the improved 2012 S1000RR, and keep the change.

+1/2, your right about the cheapest thing...

Trying to remember this story about a Scottish obituary...

This Scotsman calls the local newspaper to post an obituary for his relative who passed. When dictating the ad to the girl on the phone, he said "Angus McCaslin, born 1934 in Aberdeen. Father of three boys, loving husband. Dead."

The newspaper girl replied "We're having a special this week on obituaries. You can have three more words for free." The Scot said he would check with the family and call back. Twenty minutes later he called back to place the ad. "Angus McCaslin, born 1934 in Aberdeen. Father of three boys, loving husband. Dead. Volvo for sale."

Brian walks into Ian's pharmacy and places on the counter a yellowed, stitched and sewn-up condom. "How much fer a nuu one?" asks Brian and Ian replies, "It'll be 20 pence fer a nuu one". "How much to have it rrepairrred?" "That'll be 10 p" said Ian.

"I'll be back" replied Brian.

The next day Brian walked into Ian's pharmacy. He said to Ian, "The Rrregement tuk a voote ... we'll have it rrrepairrred!".

hiya, some of you might recognize my username from either Ducati.MS or ADVrider. i recently purchased a used 2008 HP2S, and for $1,500 less than the advertised price of those two 2010 bikes. i'm here on the west coast where i believe bikes to fetch a slightly higher price than in other parts of the country. additionally, i'd have to pay $500 EASILY to ship one of those motorcycles to Los Angeles. at the end of the day, i purchased my motorcycle from a clubhouse riding colleague of mine, and who is notorious for cleaning his bikes "intra-ride," so i know everything about the bike (and its owner), its history, and the like, and it only had 1,900 miles on it when i bought it. all that matters is that i'm content with my purchase, it's not easy finding these bikes used in the shape that mine was in.

happy to be here.

see ya,
