"Nehmt Abschied Brüder"
As I was out riding on the Skyuka Mountain Road many thoughts came to mind about the purpose of the motorrad which is to be alone. As I reached the top and viewed the countryside, I considered the "word wars" and personal flamming that goes on here. As the new year begins, I will concentrate on the joys of riding and less on this forum which has grown to be less informative and more of a source of ireful commentary. I'm happy that shreddr has obtained his very own HP2Sport and that RBMann's surgery went so well. I'm excited to see R11S bikes fall into the hands of new owners who seek to retrace the steps of those who have preceded them in owning the "Donkey Bike." I have marveled at the landscape that God has provided for ckcarr to photograph and post as often as the old LOOK Magazine for many to enjoy. I've enjoyed the comedic comments of Brad since his return to the forum. I've been enligthened by Cageyar's knowledge of the grevience process when encountering problems with your scooter which is under warranty or not and his vast knowledge of lubricants. I've laughed at the escapades of the Swartzwelder brothers as they quicken the pace for many who ride with them. Trip reports by PFFOG, Dee Jones and Throttlemeister are the headliners for the forum. But, who could not enjoy the reports and comments from the mates down under. A fine bunch of blokes if there ever were any.
Then there's Roger, who has been the master of suspension (funny, it has been on the bike and on the forum also). He rakes the sandbox to his own standards, which manages to keep everyone in check most of the time. Some, pass through from time to time and some stop in for but a moment never to return. Some lurk for years without ever saying a howdy. The forum has all the domestic and international qurrels of a good soap-opera. But, hopefully, most take away more than they bring to it. I certainly have. If you you believe in Christmas-Merry Christmas. If you don't, I hope that you will find in this season, something that will bring joy to your life. As for the year year that approaches, the title says it all. If I've not mentioned you or your contribution, it wasn't on purpose. |

No matter what, enjoy the ride Bubba!
This forum is definitely a wealth of information for us new to the bike. But I can see that most of the "old line" (the guys that bought these bikes new), have moved on in their biking choices and now this forum (for them) is not about the R1100/1200S's, but rather a social network. With that lack of bike-oriented focus/ unity, the PP site often wanders and inevitably squabbles and petty arguments break out. Whatever, I don't mind/care, I choose not to get involved unless it's something that strikes dear to my heart/senses. I love reading all of the technical information here, and I come here several times every day to check up on what's happening to the current riders, and to research the (deferred) maintainence that I like to do on my own. (Clutch slave/ spline lube coming up next rainy weekend!) For my local riding, I look to one of the local riders forums. I think there is only 1 other R1100S in my local group (South Bay Riders), although there are a couple R1200S's and lots of GS's... but that forum is where I socialize, here is where I come to learn! Claus Ludwig Laue, 1946 1. Take farewell, brethren, uncertain If any return, The future lies in darkness And makes our hearts heavy. Chorus: Land, The sky arches over the country, Goodbye, goodbye! We all rest in God's hands, Lives on well bye. 2. The sun goes down, it increases the night, Gone is the day. The world falls asleep and wakes quietest The nightingales beat. Chorus: 3. Thus, in every beginning The end is not far off. We come here and go back And with us is the time. Chorus: 4. Take brothers farewell closes the circle Life is no game. Only someone who knows right to life, Will reach its ultimate goal. Chorus:
