Cool Front Brake Bleeders

I was reading ye olde shop manual and it mentioned a special tool required to bleed the right front caliper. It seems that at the factory they have a special quick-fill attachment and they leave the fitting behind just because then you can buy yet another special BMW tool or you might say fuchk it and take it to the dealer for ye olde $80 wallet cleansing.

Well my local shop manager told me to skip it and just replace the right original fitting with a regular bleeder so that I can bleed it the old fashioned way sans special tools. The bleeder part is 34 21 2 330 310. He also mentioned that I needed a heat gun to get the original fitting off.

Anyone have any experience with this? Was a heat gun necessary?

the heat gun is to soften the loctite it is fitted with. otherwise it should come out just fine. the new one will go in even better.

i really hate those std fittings.

really really hate them. **** like that makes me want to punch someone at bmw so hard. like all the other things.

I did not use heat on mine and it came out fine. I wish I had thought of the heat trick though. They also use the same fitting on the clutch bleed. You can replace it with the same bleeder as you use on the brakes. My friend, the BMW mechanic, warned me that some of the fittings have broken off when they tried to remove them.

I got the same warning when I replaced the bushings and springs on my front disks. How much heat is nessesary to loosen the locktight is my question, but I didn't need to find out.

Erric I'm tippin Carlos was after the Shakespearian version . Think that particular ye-old version related to front drums on the Bonneville William rode as a young out of work poet .
