Rennsport Replica

I'm wondering if anyone has ever built a Rennsport Replica? I'm hoping to find a builder specializing in custom BMW projects that can assist in this effort.

Additionally, I'm trying to locate a Huska (sic) tank that would be used for this project. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rick

M Logo Rennsport

Hi there Rick

I know a shop here in the Netherlands that has a short stroke
R 50 engine

They also made a bike and it allready looks good to me.

I can't find a pic but if I'll go over there I will make a pic for you and ask Jan some questions.

Is there something special you want to know?

if you want you can look under

www.becksmotoren.nl

under racing you can see their racer

see you

M Logo rennsport tank

Hi there Rick

You are asking about a 'Huska' tank but I assume you mean a 'Hoske' Tank.

Do you have any books or other info about how to restore a BMW?
You should buy this one

'how to restore your BMW motorcycle'
writer Roland Slabon
it's from ' motorbooks international'
isbn 0-87938-933-8

good luck
if there is anythink I can do please let me know

see you

That front brake must be about 1969 era? Look close at the brake lever and you will see it has two cables with an equalizing link. One cable goes down each side of the fork and the wheel has a twin leading shoe brake on each side! That was the last level of development prior to discs!

The first pic on this thread, (black & White) is also in the Illustrated BMW Buyers Guide (1st edition) page 131. Just as written on the scanned photo, the engine is not an original race engine, but from an R50S. The RS engine has bevel driven double over head cams. The second pic is of a normal production bike with aftermarket racing parts. I'm not criticizing it, I think it looks great and would be really fun to ride.

According to the same book mentioned above, only 24 RS54's were built for private racers (4 went to sidecar racing). In the book there is mention of machinist in the US and Canada making parts and "even some replica, or even improved, RS engines!"

Here's one page with pic about one RS54 (in German)
