Thumbs down Laser Chip Problem

So to the better of my judgement, I tried to do the Laser chip before the WV trip. The instructions were kinda poorly translated but they said something like "make sure notch is pointing to the Motronic plug" or some such nonsense. The original chip had writing on a label which could be read when viewing the Motronic unit with the plug towards the top. Not knowing any better, I figured I'd do the same thing with the Laser chip. Put everything back together, turned on the ignition and the injectors proceeded to fire away dumping some serious amounts of gas into the cylinders and then out the exhaust leaving a nice puddle of fuel right under the crossover exhaust pipe (I guess I got a leak there eh?). WTF I panicked and punted and put the stock chip back in. Man was the whole thing really scary. My local dealer is kinda of an aisshole about this stuff too so it would have been a real problem if I fried anything. What could have gone wrong?

My bike was manufactured 7/00 so I bought the pre-8/00 chip. The Laser chip came on a carrier. Did I put the thing upside down? Did I get the wrong chip?

There should be a u notch on the top of the chip on one end only.point this notch to the left and pin one would be lower left. if you want give me a call 203-247-3240.

Nothing like waiting to the last minute.

Joe:
You know I think I did that right... I took some digi pics and I'll look again. I tellya there were some scary moments.

On the plus side I figured out how to take the body panels off without having to remove the turn signal lenses...you just sneak your hand in there after removing all the fasteners and unscrew the buld holder.
