Just weighed my R1200S
I just put my R1200S on a set of accurate scales. In full riding trim with all fluids, tankbag and maybe a gallon down on a full tank of fuel, it weighed in at 480 pounds.
Has anyone else weighed theirs ? Mine has the saddlebag mounts installed ( my weight was without the bags) and an Akra muffler with headers. |

I weighed mine a few years ago and that is within a few LBS of what mine weighed.

Wow! If it gains 20 lbs more it will qualify for "Hog" status instead of "Piggy" status.

Yeah, it may be 5 or 10 pounds off but 480 is close.

Do not take too seriously

That's a lot of luggage you have in those bags. (a R11S should come in at about 500lbs with all fluids)

Bike Weights. (no bags)
F800GS - F223.5/R256.5 480 lbs w/ 2/3 fuel R1200S – F242/R232 474 lbs w/ 1/4 fuel 900SS/FE - F230/R189 419 lbs w/ full fuel PS - F210/R222 432 lbs w/ ¾ fuel K1200S F286/R286 572 lbs w/ ¾ fuel R1200R F/R259/253 512 lbs w/full fuel Multistrada 1200. Weighed on dump scales. 480lbs w/1/2 fuel I haven't weighed the R12GS yet. I don't have weight records for either R11S. 2012 MTS1200 F/R255/234 = 489 lbs, full gas (Note that weight bias is much like the R12S)

Those numbers posted by bob hancock pretty well match my numbers on the 12S.
Ya know, I think posting an accurate weight should be one of the prime specs that any review of any bike should post. Some of the magazines do it but some do not. Like horsepower, this is something the manufacturers like to fudge on. |

When you buy a BMW, weight is good for the crosswinds.

Ford used to call it "road-hugging weight."

And here I've been saying Buick was the progenitor of that. Oh well.

According to the BMW specifications for a r1100s:
Dry weight 458.56 lbs Full tank of fuel 4.755 gallons @ 6.073 lbs per gallon = 28.88 lbs Other fluids est 6 lbs Oil, transmission, rear end Total weight 493.44 lbs R1200S: According to the brochure I have on the R1200s it just lists weight as: Unladen weight, fully fueled, road-ready 470 lbs

That's what this discussion is about, Alice. Have you got more information to impart or just more confrontation?

Why quote me?
Long time users of the board all know that the "Lite" package weighed more...

In true BMW vernacular, it's real purpose was to lighten your wallet.
