R1100RS Issue

I know I know this is an 11s forum but I need immediate help with this.

My uncle and I are on our way to road america in pouring rain and his 97 11rs just quits while cruising at 80mph. so right now we are stuck at a gas station waiting on a friend to pick his bike up.

We checked it over and found that it has no spark. Fuel pump does work.

Could it be a bad coil? What could cause this to happen? What options do we have?

Please and thanks.

Hall Effect Sensor could be the problem. Try to find a place to dry out the engine and see if it starts.

I vote Hall Sensor! Just replaced mine. My bike quit while riding along, just like the kill switch had been shut off. The starter cranked, fuel pump worked, but no spark. Here is the helpful link that someone on here sent to me:

Awsome, thanks. I bet that's it.

The bike will be at the Chicago dealer tmr.

It's going to be a long night.

Sorry that this happened on a real ride, what a pain. If it is the HES, don't forget to update our data thread:

Thanks for all your help. It ended up being oil on the HES - leaking crush washer.

We'll be at the race tmr.

That's a new one for me on HES faults. I'd have thought the 80 mph driven rainwater would have been the culprit. Enjoy the race.
