Checked for FD issues at the rear tire. I can't detect any noticeable play.
Rode over 400 miles last weekend. Rode with the bro-in-law and friend and did not push it on the secondary roads. Problem did not present itself again.
Have an appointment to get a new front tire tomorrow and the shop owner is going to check out the issue as described in the op and explained to him. The guy rides track so if something is up he'll probably find it.
Checked on Ohlins and not sure i want to dump 2k into this bike. What other options are good for shock replacement?

Seriously, the difference between stock OEM and remote reservoir shocks is... in a word, shocking.
