r11s left spark plug cover prices? and where?

Just saw I lost the left 4 valve single spark plug cover thing on me bike. No idea they came off so easily, as I just flipped the other side off with my pinky, so i'll have to attach them better somehow, but now I need the cover and need to know the best place to get it.

ebay I found one for close to $50 and i would never pay that much for a piece of plastic like that! I was thinking 8-15 at most. Any recomendations? I can still ride the bike, so not a necessity, or not something I'm going to die if i don't have rifght away, so even if someone has an extra they want to sell, let me know.

Your desired price is what a BMW dealer will charge you for a new one.

you didn't think eBay has realistic pricing, did you?

Beemerboneyard.com usually has them for under $25. And yes they just barely snap on. I lost a carbon one awhile back. Talk about pricey. I zip tied mine onto the spark plug wire. That way if it does come loose it just dangles.

I drilled a very small hole near the back and zip tied it to the spark plug wire. I can pull the cover off and reattach without it falling off. The zip tie just slides down the wire.

I've seen 15 for the plastic and 5 for the litttle rubber piece online. The guy who wanted 25 and 25 to ship is smoking crack.

I'll see if I can find a used one before I pay 25+ shipping for new.

I can usually find things like that once I look hard enough. Maybe they'll have it at the out of the way shop/parts place I plan on going to tomorrow and I won't have to pay for shipping...

Yeah, I just bought a pair from a dealership online and they were like $8 each or something silly like that. Not expensive at all.

And now that I've read the zip-tie trick, I very well may do that as soon as I get home tonight

I see the CF cover is outrageous but I not the plastic ones. I bid on a pair of new ones on eBay, lost but they went for ~$12 plus $5 shipping. Either one is worth a quick drill and zip though..

I saw those, but you have to buy the little rubber thing as well, so it's over $20. Call me cheap, 15+ plastic and 5+ rubber thingy is over $20 for new (is to much.)- Then whatever shipping would be, is going to cost more...

There is only one used on on ebay right now and the guys wants 20+ to ship.

If i can find it used and get it to my door for under 15, then I'll do it, but for now, I'm looking at making my own out of metal. I've already started the design and like it so far. Brushed aluminum adds a cool texture around the head.

The day after i got the bike back from getting tires put on, both sides fell off. I found the 2nd one and the little rubber thing was in backwards. I think the dealership took them off and put them on wrong. I flipped the rubber thing around and it is really sticking on there, but in backwards and it falls off just idling. I only drove two miles and they both fell off and they never did before... mmmm They also charged me 122.00 and change to mount my own tires! It's been a little while since I've had motorcycle toires mounted, but the r1100s has to be the easiest bike ever to get the rear rim off, and the front is typical. I've had 4 tires mounted balances and 4 thrown out for less than 80! so 122+ tells me i will never have them change a tire again, then the plastic things fallen off all of a sudden.

(maybe i'm just paranoid...)

From Max BMW description... "Please note: The original spark plug covers had silver lettering. BMW has discontinued this. They are now all black. This part INCLUDES the rubber buffer that is necessary for installation".

Sounds like you'd rather fab your own.

I didnt read that part about it being included. Thanks

It's not that I want to make my own part, I just don't want to spend $20.00+ for the part. If I can make something that looks better and is cheaper, then I see no reason to spend that much for a piece of plastic. I guess it the cheapness in me, but the part should be 1/2 that price IMO. I didn't buy the bike because it was the cheapest (quite the opposite) but I try my hardest to save where I can. eBay is a godsend in that respect for my cars as well.

Maybe I'll find it cheaply on eBay eventually, but for now I like The "custom" idea I have now. I'll post photos of the end result. It does look good on my mock-ups. Adds a little bling to the bike.

You guys need the $525 CF valve cover cover to hold those on for you like I've got, no worries! LOL

If $20 is too much, you could remove the cover on the other side and run without covers.

Alternately, duct tape will work and comes in many colors. You probably already have gray, so that would be the cheapest.
