That would fix it. Too bad it's another $100 plus I can no longer use my LCD bacpac. I'll hold out for the iPhone so I won't need the LCD any longer.

Read they expect to release the applications for smart phones in a week or two. I just gott the remote bacpac, which should be great, no more trying to see the flashing light in the mirror, plus being able to turn on and off, should cut editing time.

Yeah, the mirror trick works well on the moto and i've thought about bringing a pocket mirror on the bike.
With the smartphone app, I'll mount the iPhone on my bars and it will be sweet. And I agree, less editing will be required. |

Oh crap. Fine print on GoPro's site: "The original HD HERO is only compatible with the Wi-Fi Remote. Does not support GoPro App and video + photo live streaming."
So for only $359 I can have this feature. |

Yeah that sucks. I have a friend with the original HD Hero who is willing to sell it to buy the Hero2, he really wants the iPhone app.

![]() ![]() Other advantages of a helmet mount... - Less vibes. - Can optionally look around... like going over a bridge, passing a lake, or anything worthy of a glance. Better than a fixed stare ahead the whole time. - Gives the rider p-o-v. - One mount, any bike. - Can dip the head towards the mirror to make sure the recording light is on. Can also make sure no bug is sacrificed on the altar of the lens! - Once you have the orientation set, leave it. I have no need for wifi this, lcd preview that, remote on/off, etc. I already know it is pointed correctly, recording correctly, and with the left hand can handle the easy controls (GoPro and Contour). Hanging the GoPro off the chin of the helmet is a good option with the right bike. Not so good with a lot of fairing in front. I place the GoPro 3D contraption off the chin (it's a hefty thing), but crouching on a sportbike? No, but on an upright bike with minimal fuss in front, very nice... ![]()

I dislike the helmet mount vidios on street bikes. The head turning is annoying. On dirt its a different story.
BTW - I think RapidDog should be OldandSensibleDog.

Plenty of helmetcam vids without head turning. Totally up to the rider. How is it a different story on dirt?

Also, consider brightening and stirring in a bit of contrast with Contour recordings while in the editor. They fixed the dim/dullness with the Contour +, and this latest cam also now includes a port for an external mic you place out of the wind.

Did you use the backing tape or fab u your own glue? What I've heard though is that the backing tape separates between the mount and the tape, not the surface (helmet) and the tape.

...exactly, I'm sure the Contour helmet/surface mount is fine, but I don't trust it, hence, lanyard.
With my luke I'd see my li $300 gizmo sliding along the pavement (or dirt) in the rear view at any given time...

For the Contour I get enough of a flush fit at that location/helmet to not need anything else but the adhesive that came with the mount. And five years of Contour recording from that location, sans lanyard, and never a loose or lost cam. The above images were from the GoPro. This is from the Contour a month ago. Can tell it is tucked slightly back further on the helmet...

Thanks!
I mounted the Contour+ up. Hopefully one of these days I'll capture some material worth viewing. Unless you guys want to watch me 'lane share' on my daily commute. Ha!

If you have windows 7, Microsoft Live movie maker will edit the files.

Bottom of wind screen. First time I used it so I used some zip ties in cause the 3M sticky stuff let go but that didn't happen.
