Nice photos and video MR PFFOG! I hate I didn't get to hang out with you guys more, but it was still great to see you both. Man what a shock! I have never been tricked so well. Glad you guys made the journey!!

Truth told I was tired that day. I've learned to respect my limits and it gave Foggy a chance to ride dirt.

Richard... Really enjoying the images and words. And you rode the Tarryall Rd, along with Guanella Pass! Watched the vid. I passed through that same group of cows two weeks ago. Could tell you were having a blast descending the north side of Guanella. Nice recording.

With Tom rested we headed for Pikes Peak, they finished paving it to the top so it was a fun run up. At 10,000 feet temps cool off, quick, and don’t warm up too quick. We had breakfast at the motel and waited for reasonable temps then took off for the peak. True to form, great weather in the morning and threatening skies in the afternoon.


The run up PP was great, nice weather and clear views.

We wandered around for a while snapping pics, and enjoying the 14,000 ft thin air, we grabbed a coffee and a “world famous “ Pikes Peak fried cake. It was time to get back to breathable air so we headed back down, little traffic and some fun until we got close to the bottom and got stuck behind someone doing 15 mph.
Back on the open road we headed to the Cripple Creek area to enjoy the views and ride the twisty roads. And enjoy them we did, lots of sweet sweeping turns and light traffic.



After the previous nights meal in Fairplay sucked, we figured we would catch an early meal at Rita’s in Guffy. It can highly recommended by Steve Farson. Headed over county roads o Guffy and Rita’s was nowhere to be found, we went just out of town and stopped, I punched Rita’s into the GPS and it said we went past it 15 miles back! Tom suggested we go back into Guffy, so we swung around and took the only other road in town, and sure enough there it was. After the fact we noted we missed 2 signs pointing us to Rita’s.

The meal was great, soup tasty, but alas we were too full for dessert! Should have gotten some to go.


I went back to take some pics of the Guffy Garage/general store/antique shop/auto museum. The proprietors gave a friendly wave.

With full bellies we headed north to Fairplay. As we ran along, the skies turned ominous ahead, just like every other afternoon in our time there. We could see the rain, but more important there was several lightning strikes dead ahead. The Radar looked pretty bad too, I don’t mind rain, but respect lightning, especially in the middle of nowhere, with no place to hide.

I wicked it up a little and was thinking we would have to hold up at the little crossroads of Hartsel, I spied a few places we could seek shelter when we went through a few hours earlier.
By the time we got there the lightning stopped, so we pressed on through the rain, and got back to the hotel .
It was load up time as in the morning we were headed to TOR, to “drop in” on the group.

Looks like you're having amazing fun together! Makes me envious :)

Richard is way easy to travel with, a top flight wing man. And we share some travel habits.

The pleasure was all mine, it was a great time. Aside from my tendency to spring out of bed at the crack of dawn, most other habits, a brisk ride an a proper meal at night sync pretty good.

Don't know if we can top this one for the surprise factor, maybe showing up at a triple crown ride would do it;)

well if we ever get a month off......

Thursday was a travel day, Headed to Paoina. The drive from Fairplay to Paonia was about 4 hours. We got in early Afternoon in 90+ degree heat, unloaded and decided to head south toward the black canyon. The sky was full of rain clouds, but we again got lucky and only hit a little rain.

The geological formations are fascinating, and the road was not bad either.

We headed back to Paonia, to drop in on the crew. Knowing where they camped and that they parked on a street, we headed there. My original thought was that we would wonder in, helmets on and ask if this is where a bunch of ugly birds with big mouths roosts? (Pelicans) But as we pulled up we see the group standing in the road, they were giving Rolf moral support as he changed his tire. They gave us a glance, so instead of slowing down, I aimed straight for Dee, stopping a couple feet from him. Took him what seemed 15 seconds for his brain to believe his eyes, as he said; I talked to you yesterday and you were in NY!!!

It was great meeting the group and the Genesis of the plan to show up. Every time I read that others were going to make it, the anticipation increased, and when Sergio was waffling, a little disappointment set in. It was great meeting people, we had "known" for years, and seeing others again.
