Comfort Handle bars
Any one got a pair of handle bars for the R1100s for on top of the steering head in stead of under it ? think they call them comfort bars ? new ones are a bit expensive and I really just wanna give it a try !

Bar Location
I could be incorrect as it would not be the first time, thought one could use the same bars on top or blow steering head or tripple clamp depending on the year of the bike.
My '04 has bars mounted on top of tripple clamp. |

You are right. Mine were on top when I got it & they simply fit under the triple clamp to lower them where I prefer. Loosen top & bottom clamp & bar bolts, then slide down the fork tube & remove bar & reinstall above triple clamp & tighten back in place. Just loosen & move one side at a time or the fork tubes get out of control on you.

If there is enough length in the cables, the bars can be moved to above the triple clamp. Use SEARCH for other ideas if moving the bars up is not enough comfort.

I've an 05 BCR, did manage to get the bars above the tripple clamp, the brake hose was under a stretch at full extension (if the front wheel was completely unloaded) and the first hard brake the bars would rotate forward no matter how tight I made them. I installed suburban machinery's bar clamps and curred the rotation problem.

You could drill through and tap the holes in the upper triple clamp. That way when you move the bars to the top you can lock them in place in the same way they were below with a couple of screws. Add a spacer between the bars and triple clamp. I had plenty of cable/hose length to even raise the bars another 1-1.5 inches if desired.

Thanks for the info guys, I thing that is the only difference between the two bars is the bolt hole to stop them rotating although I have seen what I presume to be comfort bars and they don't seem to have a bolt hole to stop rotation so I don't know what the factory does to prevent it. I think my brake hoses will be too short but maybe I can make a 2 into 1 extension piece to extend the brake hoses. I think the length of the hose depends on whether you have BMW or Brembo Callipers or maybe ABS.

Tighten everything up, they will not rotate.
