Bullying - A Pelican thing?

for me, this forum has a very long way to go before it gets obnoxious.

it's gotten so bad over there at times that another forum, thumpertalk, has tried to create a petition to turn it off!

when another forum (like adventure rider or bmwowners) starts a 23 page flame about how horrendous this forum is...i might revisit the issue.

this place is teddy bears and fuzzy slippers compared to most others.

Bullying per definition is an act of repeated aggressive behavior in order to
intentionally hurt another person, physically or mentally.

If you are referring to what I do with Bubba, I would like to see it the way Craig (Got Road) describes it... an act of mercy.

Looking at the quality or Mr. Edwards's statements, it is more of a protective reflex on my end... I view the board as my extended family and I generally try to protect my family from stupid behavior, when shown in excessive amounts.

I generally see nothing wrong with his urge to be involved in each and every discussion, for as long as he provides substance... sadly, he rarely does.

Hope this clears things up for you, Nils... but then, you may just be more tolerant than I am. If you wait long enough, that might change... if not: GOOD FOR YOU!

Do you ever go to a bar where there is an obnoxious drunk. This drunk has to be a part of everyone's conversation, he make a point of obnoxiously shoving his way into the space between you and your drinking buddy, with no thought of the conversation, or knowledge. But suddenly he's blathering and spewing as if he's an expert. You can be talking accounting or aerospace, he's suddenly an expert, and persistently and aggressively keeps butting in. He's obviously been eavesdropping as he suddenly is repeating your very conversation as if it's his own. In smaller doses it might be fine, or even welcome. But it's incessant, and goes on and on. When you have had enough you either ignore him, move on, tell him off, or punch him in the nose. Oblivious, he then moves on to the next group and repeats his act. He has such an overpowering need to be noticed, or acknowledged as an expert, that he can't stop. One patron finally has enough, walks up, and hit's him on the nose, just like hitting a puppy on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. Although it may be painful to watch, deep inside everyone is applauding.

I don't call that bullying. I call it modifying ones behavior.

Not near as bad as some other forums, entertaining at times, just annoying at other times. Bottom line is I have meet many on this board and have to say they are all pretty good guy's, despite their interweb persona.

It's the nice guys you need to be cautious of.

Let me put it this way.
I don't want to go into a bar on the South side of Chicago where I actually could be killed.

But I don't mind a few fistfights either.

But, the last thing I want is a peaceful fern bar where everyone is smiling and drinking white wine.

I think standing in the rain under a tarp with a beer is about right.
