Fairing Removal
Under the topic of Fairing Removal there is a post from Effjay for a R1100S manual. Word to the wise- DO NOT DOWNLOAD AS IT HAS A VIRUS AND WILL TAKE DOWN YOUR WHOLE COMPUTER.

That's very strange, I checked the file over with NOD32 and it is clean!
I guess your virus came from elsewhere  Phil |

Phil,
Computers can be strange. I get a box that states Activation Failed and programs will not open, can't send emails, or run virus scans. And that was right after downloading the software needed to bring up the manual. Call yourself lucky. Thank you for the input as it might be handy in the repair. Nathan |

Edit/update:
MS Security Essentials scanned 2,741,156 items including all drives and HP recovery files. "No threats were detected on your PC during this scan." Nathan, I just read your message to me regarding that file download. I had no problem doing so nor reading the PDF file once on my 'puter. No functional problems with my laptop nor apparent virus this morning, but I'm running a full scan right now to be certain (MS Security Essentials). It will take awhile to complete and although seems unlikely, I'll report back if anything mal is found. BTW, I also downloaded a similar BMW Repair Manual for my R1150GS a few weeks ago without issues. Jeff

Update
Effjay,
Have PC running again. It was not a virus but malware. A friend who is in the IT industry pulled hard drive, scanned for viruses in a sterile environment, and there were no viruses. He did a restore function and the date was just a few hours before downloading the Zip7 software for the manual download. PC still was not 100% but functioning better. We then installed some Malware software that identified 8 issues but does not tell you where they came from. Finished the cleanup and all if fine now. Reason I thought it was the manual download is based on all was fine before download and the Restore was just a few hours prior to the download. Who knows what the issue was but as everyone states, be careful what is being downloaded. People ask me why did I do the download . My answer was it is a forum familiar with for the last 3-4 years with intelligent BMW owners that work on their own bikes and never heard of an issue. And I still feel that way.
