Hp2s

Can one of my brethren help please? There is posting on Ebay #271034074396 which is listed as a brand new 2012 HP2S with "0" miles for $15K. Add seems to indicate seller has others. Pictured machine looks like no other HP2S I have ever seen & I was under the impression that last machines imported to US were 2010. Any help appreciated.
Thnx

Just out of curiosity I googled bmwhp2s and found this pic.

Hmmm.

I recall there was a special run in the motosport colors in 2011. The photo in the ebay ad is, I think, a BMW press photo. This thread (which has the same photo) might be of assistance:

BMW HP2 Sport - Page 2 - ADVrider

The ad doesn't look/feel/act like I would expect a private seller to list the bike and the cut/paste of specs is a frequent trick used by a scam, but don't know for sure.

Heres the link.

And i'm going to say it's a scam to get a $500 deposit. Check out the euro plate on the bike. No real pics.

scam

probably a scam, I live about 4 hours from Elizabethton KY, want me to ride down there an take a look at it.

I also think the terms of sale are fishy, they want to get a bit of money up front and run.

+1. This is what a legit ad looks like.

In the description this guy says: "I am 51 years old and a retired multi-championship winning roadracer. The point being - I am mature and treat my bikes very well." Wonder who he is?

"Reason I'm selling is that I have far too many bikes." What a wonderful problem to have.

Regarding the original ad, the seller has a few other bike related transactions in his feedback history, but it sure seems fishy. T

signit98 08-10-2012 03:21 PM

...stay away from it until you have someone checked out the bike, as it was offered.

Mail the seller and ask for the opportunity to check the bike out in person... the response to that request will very likely tell you everything you need to know.

Priced below current comparables, free shipping included if you act now to tempt you to act fast. I wouldn't go near it without local verification! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/pukey.gif

No such thing as a 2012 HP2 sport. Last run was in 2010, 400 bikes, for Europe only.

Most scams are from hacked accounts.

I've looked at the same ad and I don't think it's legit. As others have said, archieved photo, terms of payment etc. This the guys first sale, has been on ebay as a buyer since 2011. I've email him but no response. To many flags for me.

ckcarr 08-11-2012 07:33 AM

Man you guys just beat around the bush with that ad. You should have reported it immediately. Obviously it's a scam. The whole description just reeks of scam. Why do you think they say "Shipping will be included as long as Item sells for "BUY HERE NOW" Shipping will take 14-21 days for delivery. 500.00 deposit will be paid in 48 hrs of end of auction. An a extra 3,000 will be paid after I contact you for shipping and delivery arrangements. Free shipping will be only for BUY IT NOW buyers. I will deliver to all buyers in a 300 mile radious, and will deliver further if special arrangements are agreed apon before the end of auction and the first 48 hrs after. The remainder of money will be paid at time of delivery. Happy Shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"probably a scam"

"But I don't know for sure"

Yikes! Help your fellow buyers out! It's total fraud...
The scammer doesn't expect to get the whole $15,000, but $500 will do, $3,000 even better...

Hp2s

Thanks to all. After reading all comments & doing further research, I agree the add is not reasonable. Further research by reviewing sellers feedback indicates he is what I would characterize as a scavenger selling technical objects with a targeted audience that are mostly aviation related. He has not sold a motorbike that I see. I think I will enjoy my R1100s today & forget about it.
Best Regards to all my brethren on this blog who never let me down!!

pf10015 08-11-2012 08:36 AM

Has been Reported to ebay

ckcarr 08-11-2012 08:45 AM

Seriously, there are probably 20 people on this board that would have snapped up that bike in an instant for that price IF THERE WAS SUCH A THING.

There's not going to be a free lunch with an immaculate HP2S... 2008, 2009, and maybe there are one or two 2010 bikes in the U.S.
Prices for those seem all over the board, in winter maybe $15,000 up to $18,000 or even rarer $20,000

trader220 08-11-2012 12:26 PM

I saw the listing when it was live and I was tempted to just click buy it now and drive there today. When I checked back it had already ended

New HP2 Sport

BMW Motorcycles of Escondido has a "new" 2009 #193 with 10 miles on it for sale. Not on their website yet. They sold it to a guy who kept it in his office in Palm Springs and now has decided to sell it. Interested, give Phil a call

1%er 08-11-2012 03:27 PM

I asked the motorsports paint eBayer to provide me with the VIN and he never replied. It would have had to be a euro spec bike to have that paint. Scam all the way.
