Optimistic Pricing?

2007 BMW R1200S

Hey I am all for free markets but I dont think this ones going to trade anywhere near that price.

Guyf 08-23-2012 12:54 PM

I think he confused the mileage with the price...

Or... or... he's hoping to get in on one those rich guys from Africa that needs to move several millions of dollars through escrow because his PM dad passed away or some chit like that.

Well sometimes you'll see a guy do that if his wife told him whatever it is he's selling has to go, so they put it out there at a stupid price and can then say "hey its on the market".

...seeing how he only has ABS on the front and the same seems to be valid for the Ohlins... I thin if he takes about 10 grand of the sticker, it might sell...

Drews323i 08-23-2012 02:22 PM

Eh it's the candy cane paint. It drives the price up every time. :-)

"how much is my bike worth?"

it's worth exactly how much someone is willing to give you for it.
and not a dime more.

smddanny 08-24-2012 06:08 AM

I'd be firm at that price too if I didn't really want to sell it....

AZ-J 08-24-2012 08:13 AM

Mine looks like that and has BST wheels, it must be $20,000,

this happened when I was looking for mine; guy had an '03 BCR on cycletrader for over a year, and each time I emailed for availability, I'd get a reply "it's been sold", so I believe that tactic is used quite often to appease "the boss"! :D

I spoke to a friend yesterday who crashed his R12S a while back and has semi rebuilt it and still wants +-R80,000.00 (I think the dollar is +- R8.50 and pund is about R13.00) for his bike in that condition or he will keep it.
I can see him holding onto the bike for a while as I got mine as a demo cheaper than that.
Then again, if someone is willing to pay that much, the bike will sell... Just not to me.
