Charging R1200S battery question

My R1200S is at a friends house and doesn't have enough juice to start. Will a trickle charger be okay? I thought there was some sort of issue with the canbus or AGV (?) battery? Is charging the battery directly okay?

That was the difference from the r1100s through the accessory socket and recommended by Bobby from BMW Atlanta. A pigtail connected directly to the battery terminals. I did a thread somewhere.

No, silly. Storing it at a friend's house. He's got the Plus charger for gel batteries and it starts now, so I think this is under control. It's been plugged into the accessory socket.

I've been using a regular charger for the gel battery several years without any issues by the direct connect. However, I charge once per 2-3 weeks if I don't ride much.
