looking at the pictures, i sure hope that's not bmw's top test crew.
none of them, except for maybe the girl (white helmet) seems to be very comfy on a bike.
lots of foot dragging and leg waving going on there....
seems like she's instructing one guy on how to get a bike in gear.

they have nice sharpie pens though.
must have taken a while to mark those units up.

ckcarr 03-22-2013 08:19 AM

They have the stealth paint job.

Droptarotter 03-22-2013 09:25 AM

Look at the third and fourth picture.
Why would they put a left hand kick starter on the bike???

Cheers

BaldBeemer 03-22-2013 10:09 AM

That paint job makes the bike waaay more conspicuous. If they just used that grey paint scheme, you might just think some people were riding current RT's instead of a new model.

...that's the optional 'Tribal Package'...

It's the China syndrome (gearboxes are made far and away from Fatherland).

BTW: since the ultimate (in touring) is around, why bother for any other bike ?

VFR ,fat, and overpriced. A dealer by me wont even put them on the floor.

He only will sell them special order. Valve adjustment (check) is a nightmare.

Martin Glasser 03-23-2013 07:42 AM

Is the ST1300 more than the VFR?

More what? More weight, more $$$ or more better?

ckcarr 03-23-2013 08:04 AM

It's just More!

More is the new Less!

RoLoo 03-23-2013 09:01 AM

...VFR1200 is just more ugly...

AZ-J 03-23-2013 10:45 AM

Those decals show they want to be seen. The great part of that model so far, is it has the adaptive front lighting of of the K1600GT/GTL.

throttlemeister 03-23-2013 01:15 PM

One can slam the VFR all you want, but fact remains it is a very, very capable sport-touring machine and if I was in the market right now, I would have a long hard look at it. Not only is it one of the few sport-touring machines still available, it's a Honda. And after spending more money on bad design and poor QC in the last 6 years of BMW ownership than the 20 years of riding Japanese combined before that, I pretty much had enough of the no longer existing German 'grundlichkeit'.

That said, I love both my beemers and if they keep going strong like they are now, they're not going anywhere anytime soon.

I was asking in terms of price..

The K16's adaptive headlight is amazing, at nite the center of your headlight beam is always in the center of your lane no matter how twistie. I couldn't belive it the first time I road mine thru some twisties at nite. During the day, the headlite automatically locks in place with the input of an electric eye.

The other biker couldn't manage the left side kick starter and was using the Flintstone's method.
