BMW Roundel stock cateletic converter

Any body ever modify or hollow out the stock cat. on the R1100s, sort of a poor man's single pipe header.

You can pick up a used y-pipe probably cheaper than gutting your catalytic converter. I doubt that big empty box that would be left over would give you the best performance either.

+1. Perhaps even a used cat that someone took off to install their Y-pipe.

Yup, gutted it and cut open the mufflers and modified them in an effort to make it sound better, already knew that and change in performance would be minimal, if any.

It did sound better and slightly louder, but still ha that flat flatulence sound, just louder. No real change in performance. But I was not happy with the sound, so ended up with a Staintune. Sweetest sounding pipe for them, IMHO
