Missing shift up to 2nd: Occasionally
Shifting up to 2nd occasionally producing false neutral, not real neutral with the dash light illuminated, fixed by going at the shifter again. Just removed peg lowering kit after 8 years, so it may be technique. Not Sure, over to the brains trust...........
Technique and /or your shifter is too high. Try lowering it a quarter-inch.
And check to see whether the little rod with the ball joint at the ends is loose, bent or worn.
New boots!
(I say only as a half joke...) |
thinner socks so your big toe can really feel what's going on.
Pre-loading the shifter helped me with the hitting neutral between 1st and 2nd on both of my R1100S's.

you're out of balance. your feet are too light. you need to wear a tank top and shorts to balance things out. then fine-tune it all with one of those silly chopper guy helmets. for safety reasons, consider sunglasses too. if you make these adjustments, and ride for a while, the occasional missed shift will quickly diminish in importance on your list of problems. |
