In Brasil it will be Nelson Piquet track in Brasilia and in Argentina Termas de Rio Hondo. Nice to have some race down south. Although not having Laguna Seca is ridiculous.

Re: the UPDATE at the end of the article........per LS general manager Gill Campbell "We have a contract through 2014 and will be negotiating our future contract within the next year. It doesn't affect us at all- we're not going anywhere."

Whew! I would hate to see Laguna get dropped :(

wswartzwel 08-20-2013 04:47 AM

I was wondering if anyone would read the fine print. :)

I guess the cork finally got unscrewed out of the bottle.SmileWavy With Argentina also in the mix something has to go and with all the Spanish speaking riders in MotoGP the Latin countries are great markets.

Looking forward to WSBK at Laguna next month...

While the track activities are really fun and nice, the riding in the area is where it's really at...

Dual Sport bike recommended!

Reading on in the attached articles, there is also coming expansion on the Pacific Rim. If that happens we'll see some serious competition for the venues. Spain has four and the USA has three. In the end I suspect it will be about $$$'s as to who gets the nod. After all, there is the wear and tear on the riders and teams to consider.

RIQUE 08-20-2013 07:13 AM

I think dropping Indianapolis instead of Laguna is the way to go.

This!

I was kind of hoping they'd drop Indy. Nobody likes that track, none of the riders, none of the spectators, etc.

But it is what it is. Now that I live in Austin, though, this event better be coming to COTA for many years to come!

Rapid Dog 08-20-2013 11:15 AM

Texas has the money
Indy has the chicks
Laguna has the fans and everything else.
...a sin to punt the place where it all started...

flatbutt 08-20-2013 11:31 AM

Laguna doesn't have all three classes. Why is that?

Rapid Dog 08-20-2013 12:14 PM

...that is a good point flatty...

GP days they had 250s, 500s, and sidecars.

Probably because they run the AMA series in tandem, same event.

Easy answer, not enough room in the paddock.

signit98 08-20-2013 02:30 PM

There is plenty of Room, Chris... but they run all sorts of AMA events there, all day long. Even electric bike races... Laguna is more about noise than space and one loud race class seems to be more than enough for the neighbors.

Just part of the show and the plan... It's actually kinda nice to have to have it that way... although I'd love to see moto2 and 3.

nail24fac 08-20-2013 05:28 PM

What are the chances of taking one of the races in Spain?

signit98 08-20-2013 05:37 PM

Call Dorna... if you tell them who you are, I am sure they'll tell you!

RIQUE 08-20-2013 06:46 PM

If there is a country that will not loose races its Spain.

That's what I thought earlier Rique. Lots of Spanish riders in MotoGP. I'm sure if I tell them bubba wants to know they'll pony that info right up.
