New Gurl from Ireland.

Hi everyone, been lurking here on and off over the past few months benefiting from the great technical know how . I am in Ireland and bought my R12S at the end of May, I flew to Glasgow and rode it home from Scotland. Three days later I went to the Isle of Man TT for a week, so got to know the bike pretty well, pretty fast, seeing as there are no speed limits outside the towns on the Isle of Man
Anyway, normally when I buy a bike I end up spending a fortune on it for bits and pieces, luckily this bike has pretty much everything done including a custom paintjob which is like a mint humbug sweet, so its called Humbug.
Absolutely love this bike, probably the best machine I have owned in 30 plus years on two wheels.

Thanks. As you can see its done in the style of the red/silver factory option and certainly turns a few heads, although may not be for a shrinking violet rider . The front fairing, tank, infill panels and alternator cover are carbon.

€550 VRT for those of you outside Ireland is an import tax, aka vehicle registration tax, supposedly not allowed under EU single market rules but the government seem to get away with it, grrrr.

Welcome! Hope you survive here.

Well, that tax is just a tax under any other name. Most states in the U.S., although not all, charge an initial sales tax/use tax for the bike purchase plus an annual license and registration fee.

For example, in Utah, buying a used R1200S for $9,500 will cost you approximately $751.50 (Grand County). Although it changes every quarter. They get you for everything.

ONE TIME PURCHASE TAX & FEES:
State sales tax: $446.50
County sales tax: $23.75
Local sales tax: $95.00
Highways Tax: $28.50
Title Fee: $6.00
Total One-time $599.75

ANNUAL FEES:
License & registration: $56.75
Age based property & assessment fee $95
Total annual $151.75

Plus annual inspections and insurance.
It pays to ride, oops I mean you pay to ride...

The purchase fees get repeated over and over, every time the bike sells...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Yes Martin that's where Eyore comes from, the Winnie the Poo stories and my love of donkeys.
It should be spelt Eeyore but that name is usually taken on forums and I never have a problem with Eyore which is the name I use on everything.
I shall try and post my motorcycle riding donkey avatar shortly

I have a couple of friends from Ireland than come over and ride (dirt and dual sport) about every year or so...if you are like them you will be a perfect fit here...those guys take more crap from us here and dish out even more..and great riders as well...they know David knight and his brother very well...when David was still racing ktm a fews years in the GNCC series, the West Virgina race, they got into a chicken wing fight In a bar...one of them threw a chicken bone and hit David...it was on after that. Lol Welcome to the zoo...nice looking bike.

Some pics of Ireland for you guys who enjoy something different to what you may have at home.

This is the Uragh stone circle on the Beara Penninsula in west Cork , dating from approx 3500 BC with Lough Inchiquin in the background.

The Black Valley near Killarney..

The ring of Kerry, near Caherdaniel.

The Burren in Co Clare.
