as far as fire marshalls and permits....i laugh in their general direction!
(actually having 2 firemen on the block requires i read the rule book, but i read them very carefully, which means i get away with stuff like the following...my front yard this past halloween):

i'm particularly proud of the fact that i had the only moustached, schite grinning pumpkin on the block with flames coming out of his eyes.
yup. only one.
(also thought i was sporting the only pumpkin wearing a hat with teeth, but i was told "eh, been done...." by a guy carrying a chain saw.
