count me in. i kinda fell into a luxury suite for the weekend:
all weekend: practice and qualifying sessions, plus the race. enough seating for about 12. private kitchen. three personal sorta-experts to tell me what they think i need to know. includes lunch/maybe dinner. full bath with shower. slightly stocked pantry. somewhat stocked fridge. outdoor patio area valet parking (no tipping allowed) access to a motorcycle (a bmw!) dogs. a couch and complimentary coffee table that are absolutely identical to the ones i have at home. hell, they're even going to hold the race until i'm damn good and ready to sit down and watch it. (they'll also completely stop racing and wait for me to return, if i feel the need to go do something else). don't even have to wear a lanyard.

I guess that's one way to look at it, but last year Hamilton managed to steal one of the few races from Vettel at COTA. Admittedly this hasn't been the most exciting season, but it is F1 in the USA, and it's going to be a good time. I know there are a lot of TX guys around her, and would have thought there would be more interest.

I was there. Turn 15 grandstands (turn 12 last year). Vettel winning was not an issue for me, despite being a long-time Ferrari fan. Hey, the kid can drive, and has a great car. It's up to the others to beat him.
What I DO have a problem with, is Pirelli bringing the hard and medium tires... again. With a one stop race within reach, most of the drivers spent most of the "race" driving around the track in tire-conservation mode. BORING. Softer tires would put a 1-stopper out of reach and we would see drivers actually racing each other. I won't be back until the year after I see Pirelli bringing softer tires. Time to check out Montreal. |

I was there, too. First time being to an F1 event. It was cool, but really all it did was make me want to go to MotoGP that much more. I've never prefered F1 over MotoGP, the racing is just more boring in my opinion.
But overall, COTA is a great venue and the fan fest stuff downtown all weekend was fun. It helps that my office was right next to all the goings-on, so it was easy to attend Friday evening.
