OT - What is with the weather up there?
This photo was taken by my uncle on his ranch between Miles City and Baker Montana. I really don't miss the winters there.

Ran the A/c last night...heat to night....we don't get comfortable weather anymore.

Must be brutal in the heated plane....lol...love when press cries about the weather. Getting the live shot just about kills them!

it's absolutely intollerable here too.
we had to turn on the heater twice this week. plus it sprinkled a little bit yesterday. i understand the governor is planning to declare socal a disaster area, especially since he saw people on the news forced to wear sweatshirts and ugg boots. surely the riots and looting will commence momentarily. pleez send money. and food. beer would be nice (imported). we could use firewood also. and the front tires on my truck are getting a tad worn too. we've been briefed on this "ice" thing. though none of us have ever experienced ice out in the wilds, we've seen pictures of ice in it's natural habitat. we now know that ice is a glacier's poop. still amazed that you can see through it. i hear it's slippery too. it may get below (the horrors) 50 degrees this month! the forecast is for massive traffic accidents, whiny, entitled people interviewed on tv, mass pillaging at the local "Sock & Spatula Emporium" big box store and rumor has it a possible "We are the world" type benefit song, composed by Tiny Tim. please pray for us. |
52 F here and sunny and dry. So what: I had nasal reconstructive surgery Friday and feel awful.
Percocet barely relieves. Monday, nasal tubes come out and I begin to heal. It'll take a week or two. |
I remember it snowed once in the Pomona/Ontario, CA area in the late 50s. That was the year the hydraulic power windows had leaks in the slave cylinders and our windows were down.:(
|
We've had three snowstorms already this year. And it was zero f. this morning.
It's not a big deal though. The world keeps turning and every year is different. |
It's just beautiful up here. -30C (-22F) they say...
And we are well north of North Dakota! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAq1Ml3PlGc http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...g/P1010010.jpg |
Hey brad I thought ice in its natural habitat was that clear stuff that goes clink-clink in the glass. Not so?

Here in the wilds of mid-south Queensland we have a "Red Alert Day" - you might think that the hardest part is to abstain from alcohol, but this is a dry camp so that warning would only be whimsical at best and plain mean at worst.
EASTERN QUEENSLAND RED ALERT DAY MONDAY 9/12/2013 IS A RED ALERT DAY (Humidity 49 Temperature 35.7 Apparent Temperature 43) ADOPT HEAT STRESS PREVENTION STRATEGIES o Discuss heat in your morning Toolbox meeting and reinforce prevention strategies o Increase fluid intake commencing before you go to bed o Wear a wide brimmed hat o Regularly reapply sunscreen o Sleeves rolled down o Look out for your work mates o Report any early heat stress symptoms to your Supervisor o Work in the shade where possible o Increase rest breaks o Plan work periods for the cooler part of the day o Slow down and acclimatise if recently returned to the field o Ensure heat is included as a hazard with control measures in any JHA being developed/used during the day o Please be aware that alcohol and caffeine are diuretics - consumption of alcohol, caffeine and energy based drinks can increase dehydration, alternate them with water to ensure you remain adequately hydrated STEPBACK, apply your heat stress training, drink up and stay COOL! |
Whilst on the Queensland Coast it's a pleasant 26.9 C and the wind is from the north at less than 1 kt the humidity is 50% and it looks like another lovely day
