R1200S forks on an R1200RT

I am trying to help source parts for my friend's '07 RT that was in an accident that damaged the fork tubes. I have seen some R1200S (also 2007) complete forks available and I'm curious if anyone knows if they would be compatible.

Thanks as usual for your excellent help

I looked at it for the same reason, it didn't look like they would work.
the uppers on the r1200s are clamped in the upper triples,
the r1200rt triple is solid on the center pivot and the top of the uppers bolts through
a swivel joint in the triple,
r1200r forks are listed for a rt according to the fish, you will also need to replace the lower triple.
which is what i found but haven't installed yet.
r1150rt forks will bolt up you will need to change the wheel bearings or axle or wheel.
i have a orphan r1200rt fork lower that has some scrapes towards the top otherwise good.
fyi the r1150rt uppers are the same part numbers.

also he will have probably bent the front frame upper support, the long tubes to the
motor should be straight, and possibly the support arms that go back further on the motor.
and have him check the bearing mount in the upper triple every one Ive seen wrecked
has needed a new upper triple, the center pivot bearing mount in the pivot gets pulled out
on the bottom and the bearing will move so the triple will wiggle up and down or fore and aft.
it should be solid and only rotate not wiggle up and down etc.
if you inspect it you will see the lower bearing boss is cracked. even used ones I have seen on ebay
have this damage.

I'm not positive but I thought the R1200S, ST, and GS all had the 41mm stanchion tubes with correspondingly larger lowers. I suspect you would need the triple trees to go with the swap to make it work. Not sure about the brake calipers and axle. The R1200S stanchion tubes are kinda short, so I'll also check that tube length. GS have longer tubes and might be a better fit.
