Anyone interested in starting a NEW "R" series forum

So I work in the computer industry and happen to have access to a number of resources. Today I stood up a new forum specifically for the "R" series of bikes!

I did this because forums like this (that aren't dedicated to our bikes) are difficult to search... and don't cater to our needs.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy this forum, but I think it would be nice to have a dedicated forum.

If it doesn't work, I am out a few $$ and no harm no foul.

I need moderators and people with knowledge to help support the effort if it is going to work.

Check it out and let me know.

While I like the idea, I don't quite understand what you think this forum here is for...?

And the search function here is outstanding. Ask a question, get an answer. Attitude is a given.

Just not dedicated... I am proposing a DEDICATED R Series Forum. For instance. Go ahead and "Search our site" in the upper left, and enter "clutch replacement" and tell me that you will find what you want.

I am suggesting that a dedicated R series site will be much more usable.

To kick things off we could index much of what is available on this site, and that would help simply with searching on a dedicated site.

Plus there are sub forums for so many other things.... General R discussion. R Meet Ups. R Pics. A "Real" sellers forum for R stuff only... so you can search and index... You can't believe that this site really provides the rich search/support/index information that is required in a REAL forum???

Maybe I have just been spoiled, as every bike I have ever owned has had a dedicated forum for it. Except for my R1100S.

What is an "R"series? What bikes R those?

FYI,

This is the premier R1100S site in the world, bar none.
This IS a dedicated R1100S forum. With the few additions of the R1200S and the HP2S.

It's been proven time and time again over the years. EVERYTHING is here, and easily accessible once the search feature is understood.

Why do newbees (9 posts...) always think this way before figuring this forum out?

If you want to try your own forum somewhere else you should. It's been tried before.

We, who are the ones that have built this forum, provided the research, the information contained within over the last 15 years have been more than satisfied with how it works. If it appears generic to you it's only because everyone is so bored here since we've beat the R1100S up down to individual screw replacements, we talk dual sports,or cooking,or guns, or pets, or garages,or beers...

I like the idea too. But trying to get everybody to switch over would be tough. All of the GS guys have a home at ADV. The S guys for the most part hang out here.

RxR guys have no solid home but their numbers are super low.

Where do the RT guys hang out? Or are they too busy racking up the miles?

Lol it seems you might've touched a nerve for some of the founders on this site.

As I stated... Try using the search... Clutch Replacement yields results for Porsche, and Cars, and all kinds of crap that I could care less about.

As I stated, I just am spoiled as EVERY bike I have owned has had a site DEDICATED to that bike. Bar none.

As for your time and efforts on this site. I totally (TOTALLY) understand the hard work and dedication put in here. I have done sites in the past and it is work.

But without proper search, sub-forums, and the like, I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated home for OUR bikes....

As far as "R" bikes. I thought that was pretty obvious... it isn't a K bike, or an F bike.

Maybe a better name for the site is the Boxer Bike site... IDK.

I guess, I'll try it on my own. If you want to contribute, please do. Maybe cross post... in a form that is ONLY THERE to serve the "Boxer" community.

You are searching the entire site, not this subforum. Use the correct link/search box.

As for a new forum, do you think you are the first in 15 years to try this? LOL

As a noobie, do you apply the same philosophy when invited to a group ride? Do you not test the waters first before jumping right in? You might consider carrying a second key in your tank bag.

Curve asking about Metz's tyre in China showed the lunatic fringe on here but this thread is even stranger!!! a specific R site ,and if your having a problem with the search button that's operator error.

Yep, this forum is the best suppository of knowledge on Al Gore's invention. It even has two semi defunct forums for K and S bikes. But, if you learn how to navigate the search engine, the R11S has been eaten and digested many times over. Now some here have moved on to professional photography and politics. I would imagine the the R9T will be the next bike to drift through if Wayne is asked to change the header on the forum.

You are not using the search right…. look at the menu bar below where it says welcome and your name… user CP Garage. FAQ Community… ETC.....
7th one over says Search. click on it.. then click advanced search.

Type clutch replacement…in the box marked KEY WORDS pick any date and older in the date section… also pick the right forum… R1100S/R1200S…

and you will get a list of threads on the topic. you can also search by user name. Here i searched it for you.

Suppository of knowledge huh? I will admit there are a few members with their heads up their arses, does that qualify?

I think he was making a Tony Abbot reference with the "suppository" comment

What CK said, if it is about the S, no where better to come. Set up your shortcut to open this forum, and use the "search this forum" buttons, and you have a dedicated R1100S forum. I never see the other forums, unless I am bored and peek into the basement, which scares me.

I too haven't ridden my S in a year+, and will soon not own one, but like others still come here almost daily. Yes, current new posts are more bantering between friends, but there is not a lot of "New" info on a bike that many states will allow vintage plates to be purchased for it soon.

Take some time relax, wander around, look under the bench, in the tool box junk drawer, behind the pile of old worn out tires, and you will find it all. You will just have to put up with a bunch of crochity old and middle aged men that have been there and done that.

Lite humor, Shreddr. BTW, there's '09 HP2S advertised for sale on IBMWR website. Price seems to be holding steady on the über boxer. No ABS but full Akrapovic system.
