Moto Skeevez
I saw that the latest issue of BMW ON had a review of the Moto Skeveez riding under shorts and the author of the review liked them. Last summer I read about them and, in my never ending search for comfort, I called the company. The company bio says that the Moto-Skeveez were developed by some moto guys who had experience racing bicycles. A comfy groinal area is a happy groinal area as any bike racer will tell you. When I raced bikes in the 70s, it was wool pants and chamois crotches either wet (vaseline) or dry (talc). Now, riding pants are made with unnatural materials and all for the better. I figured the Moto-Skeveez guys knew what guys wanted.
I called the company and they could not have been more helpful. The first question was "What do you ride?". The Moto -Sleveez come in three types, relative to riding style. Cruiser (upright), Sport Tour (slight bend) and Sport-Wallah (bent forward). The difference was the padding inside the shorts and what area that is covering. A bagger biker is going to sit upright and therefore needs padding/support on his tail bone. Ricky Racer needs to support the family jewels, so the padding/support gets shifted forward, around the Horn of Good Hope. I figured I needed all that support up front the way the tank/seat on the 1100S interfaces with the personal banana and fruit. The guy I talked to was very familiar with the seating on the 1100S and recommended the in between model - Ricky Bagger, I suppose. First ride with them (4-5 hours with a lunch break) I did not like them. After the ride I washed them, let them dry and put them away, Padding/support was just not where I needed it to be. In fact, really no padding up front at all. I checked twice to make sure I didn't have them on backwards. This past week-end I figured I would give them another try. I put them on, sat on the bike and said "No dice". Life is too short to be uncomfortable on a bike. I will say that fit and finish is excellant. If you order them and you ride an 1100S (1200S, too?) try the full forward padding - that might be better. The price on the Moto-Skeveez is around $70 - competitive with bicycle racing shorts. But, I like the bicycle racing shorts better - full (up and around) padding for lots of support. I do wish the guys at Moto-Skeveez the best. They seem to be on to something. Maybe the 2.0 version will be better.

Trex;
When was the last time you bought cycling shorts?? $70 might get you one leg now, if that. I saw the Skiveez at Seattle.......they were selling pretty fast and did look like a nicely made product. I had a nice long chat with the vendor and it seems like they have a good product. I chose not to buy them mainly because I have so many pairs of bib cycling shorts that work just fine for me. Cheers

I know what you mean - bibs can be an easy $150 retail. I usually buy the bike shorts at races. Late in the day, when the crowds are leaving is a good time to get a bargain. The other year I got a nice pair of Hincapie pants for $75. As for bibs on the motorcycle - no way. I need access to equipment. 'Nome say'n? I use the bibs with a cardio workout on a stationary bike, though.
