Headlight bulb ( Oh NO!! ÐÊnot again!! )
My low beam light died last evening ÐÊand I would like to know recommendations of the board as to replacement.
I know that lighting in general ( and ad nauseum ) has been beat to death here, so I really have only these criteria: 1) A direct replacement low beam 2) desirous of equal to greater light output ( without violating #1 ) 3) able to be shopped locally ( not from oh, say zimbabwe, where they are mined in a complete vacuum, for freshness ) 4) Ought not be more money than would say, the cost to rub out your mother-in-law ) jeff darkness, darkness.... |

Low beam bulb: PIAA H1 55w / 100w output, part # 11455
High beam bulb: Hella H7 55w +50, part #78119? These both resulted in much improved night vision while maintaining stock bulb wattage. I used the Hella and PIAA websites to find dealers. PIAA had a local rep, while the Hella I had to mail order. About $20 apiece. Make sure your headlight is aimed high enough. |

Thanks very much! I found a 'made in Germany' bulb on Sunday ( $4.35 ) 55 watt, and it works.
Went to ~7 stores ( 2 donorcycle[ my doctor calls them such ], 1 big chain auto parts, 2 M/C dealer [ Ducati/KTM and Honda/Kawi ], 2 big box retailers [Target/Walmart ] - nuthin', zip, nada. Went to small chain local 'murkin auto store they had one. $4.35. Wow. Will get the H1 & H7 PIAA/and or Hella ones for insertion, put the others on the shelf. thanks again, jeff |

And one in Martinez too within a long walk of my house. That's usually my first stop when I'm looking for something. They even have one in Livermore.
