foray into ePublishing
Well, it's been since the Sun went critical that I started a new thread here. With the R11S long gone to better owners I've just been lurking and answering the occasional call for help.
In the meantime I've gone and gotten my first book wrapped up as a Kindle novel and held up for the public to toss rotten vegetables at! The attempt to run on Apple iBooks was a dud. Science fiction for you hard core types. Here is the link. Merv http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RU6Z264

Grabbed. Love SF. Don't know if I like this, but if not I'll still have supported someone I know.

Wow, what is it with R-11 guys and Sci-Fi?
Congrat.s, Moybin/Merv. I'd be interested to follow how you do on Amazon, if you'd care to share. Or maybe that would be best done via PMs. I've tried Smashwords ... following your lead, I'll make bold to post the link, hope it's not breaking any rules: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/318117 Last time I checked, it looked like Amazon has the better controls when it comes to piracy.... |

Don't worry about piracy. Those that want to pirate will do regardless, and probably wouldn't pay even if it was impossible. They're not the type of customers you want anyway. It just drives people that want to pay into piracy as well, because of stupid DRM things making their life difficult.

I gradually came to the same conclusion after a year or so, it's a giveaway, at least on Smashwords. 38 downloads so far and Lord knows how many of them were, or are still being, passed on and on. You just have to take some satisfaction in hoping that, since Sci-Fi is really about ideas as much as entertainment, a few folks out there might be provoked toward one or two higher thoughts. I felt good about connecting with at least one person:
It's the review on the cover of the print edition The Park Books,Fiction,Softcover,Adventure,Science Fiction,GeneticModification,Nanotechnoloby, The Park,Audio Books,Stories So you go back to the drawing board and start working on a sequel. That's Writing; it comes from within and you are compelled to do it in spite of the risks. It's just like Riding. |

That is the paperback ... they call it 'softcover' at Bowker. Guess I should have made that more clear. By the way, let me take the opportunity to say I've really appreciated the barbacks, R.D.

I think Kindle now has an option to print a paperback. I will have to do some research.

Recently realized there is a new (to me) feature at Amazon that lets you read a part of a book for free. In my case you can read 4 chapters before you have to commit any cash. Above the Cover graphic are the words "Look inside" with an arrow. This is a hot link (button).
