CAUTION; So. Cal. Riders

On Sunday, I rode up Hwy 39 into San Gabriel Canyon, took the East Fork turn off to Glendora Mtn. Rd. and about half way up to Glendora Ridge Rd. a 40 foot section of the outside lane dropped away. I rode up again today and it is still under repair. There have also been a few landslides on this road too. It's a very technical road to ride but, lots of fun.
Oh, another thing, watch out for the cagers. On Sunday just past the road problem, a cager lost control of his vehicle and hit the mountain side and then bounced across and hit a motorcyclist head on before hitting the retaining wall. The biker [on a cruiser, I understand] was not injured too bad, however, the L.A. County Fired Dept. helicopter airlifted him to a hospital. According to the Forest Service guys, he had some facial injuries. They told me that the biker was not at fault.
Keep your eyes and ears open guys. Play safe.

I just 'discovered' this road today... now I'm wondering why it took me so long.

Always careful when you go up this route. I rather go straight up to the Crystal Lake if I go up 39. Bicycles, longboard guys, drifters... all there. Also, the non divided road to Mt. Baldy... A unique place but scary to me now.

From my last ride up there in 2013

Glendora Ridge road is in my backyard and a favorite outing in the Boxster (cager).

As a reformed motorcyclist I have respect for all two wheelers and give them lots of room. There are a lot of tight sections, blind corners and rock fallout on that road so always make your first run a recon session. Look for the guy in the red SUV that has been oiling corners in order to injure or kill someone up there. We need to get him a cage with state issue clothing.

Always ride safe.
