On the road

Need to locate or rig up a throttle cable...Snapped mid tank and I'm running the roads of Lake City Florida back to Atlanta...By pulling on bare metal stranded inner cable ..This is My 78 GL 1000..
May try rigging lawnmower throttle from a big box store..

The green string 1.5 mm weedwacker line, I think works better than the stranded cable/4 more hours travel and I'll be home!

Are you able to increase the idle speed?
This worked from me on the R1100S, 4,000 rpm would allow 80 kmh cruising
whilst 5,000 rpm allows 100 kmh cruising with an extra 20 kmh available from
pulling up the fast idle lever.
Just start the bike in gear and take off immediately.
Cheers, Frank

Sure with a tiny screwdriver I could adjust individual speeds.. But what I'm pulling on the main throttle wheel (actually one arm of a right carb.) has butterfly of all 4 carbs ganged together-works fine / tough on hands when changing amount of throttle so a steady tug is easiest.

Its good for me as while I had Honda twins in the day, the ganged multi-cylinder affair has intimidated me since I owned the GoldWing. I was glad all rough running issues got fixed with fresh points and condenser / didn't realize it was possible to run without condenser but PO had disconnected the condenser..whilst installing "neon' glow lighting was wired into the extensive gold wing left "tank' panel. So I've learned this previous day a fair bit about 4 cyl. carb cables and bars and cable stops and idle adjusts.
