Does the tank need to be removed to connect O2 spoofer on R1100S?
This question is to those of you who have installed an 02 spoofer (like the AF Xied, a techlusion box etc.)
I've located the 02 connector which sits under the gas tank on the right side behind the fuel pump. Appears to have 2 zip ties on it. My question is, if I remove the battery, the plastic center piece on the tank, snip the 2 zip ties on the connector, and pivot the rear of the gas tank up, will I be able to disconnect the connector and then connect my AF Xied? What is your experience? Have you guys been able to do this without completely removing the gas tank? Thanks! Doug |
I disconnected the O2 sensor the way you suggest - no need to remove the tank.

Ok thanks Tic, I'll give it a go. Doug

Yes, just tip it up and you'll have plenty of room.
Also, no need to remove the battery; just cover the positive terminal with a piece of rubber hose before you remove the tank bolts because the rear of the tank will fall down far enough to contact them as soon as you remove the bolts. That causes a bad feeling and disappointment. No need to remove the plastic center panel on the tank; it moves with the tank. Johnny |
All done, thanks for the advice. Yep, removed the battery...also removed the center piece, but I just saw your note here. Even road 35 miles with the AF Xied on there. So far idle seems more consistent, haven't noticed much else yet, maybe a little smoother.
