Anger in-re to Boxer Cup price

Hey R1100S owners...you guys should not be mad at BMW for releasing the new Boxer Cup series. Just because it has a 5.5" 180/55 zr 17 rear tire, sport suspension, low bars, Mich. Pilot Sports for $11,900 (and a $500.00 rebate), yall got heated grips and a center stand for the extra $4000.00 dollars---now that's "shrewd"---right motoman? Rick, Katy (Houston, Tx.)

I think it is logical, and even reasonable for those who bought a non-abs S for the 13,990 MSRP a couple of years ago to feel angry and betrayed by BMW when the BX was introduced for $11,990 (I know I would if I paid that several months earlier, purely because of lower resale value, an instant loss of $2000). I don’t see where you’re getting $4000. Perhaps you’re writing of the ABS model with the same MSRP as last year at 15,690.…That’s $3,700 more than the BX, and I for one feel that is very unreasonable and unfair to those who want an ABS equipped S. If I wanted an ABS S, I would buy a used one (unless dealers are getting substantial incentives from BMW USA and are willing to pass them on to me, the customer).

BTW: I’ve read the other thread and realize this thread may be aimed at an individual(s), but I you did write "Hey R1100S owners..."

What's worse, a 2002 R1100SA with the wonderful heated grips, color-matched seat cowl, and center stand -- oh yes, don't forget the new Screaming Eagle brakes -- can't be given away for $12,000.

Yes, it's a little disappointing...

Sack up and take the hit. No one forces us to remove money from our pockets or write a check. This is a dangerous game... the buying selling riding of motorcycles. Sometimes we win and sometimes we win. Lucky to be alive and riding. Fak BMW. Just ride that fakker and do to it what the fak you wanna fakkin do. Our options are open! Sell the goddamned piece of junk and buy an FJR1300.

YAHBO SAY FAK YAHBO!

I'm with YAHBO on this one. If you buy to sell, get in the wholesale business. If you buy to ride, buy what you like & RIDE IT!

Exclamation

And even worse, someone bid at least $60,000 and it did not reach the reserve.

This proves beyond doubt that the end of the world is imminent.

YABO's insightful remarks are dead on.

It is amazing the clarity one can gain when looking at the world through the bottom of a beer glass!

The way I see it Randy Mamola is the who should be upset!

His autograph, the price on an entire model goes down!

Harrison Ford, one autograph on a cruiser(eeww) and the price goes up.

Whatever!

This sounds like the way my wife would react, pissed and get consumed by something that happened and is mute to say the least, whereas I say whatever........If I bought something for 13,900 then a year or so later that bike was available for 2G's cheaper, I wouldn't loose a bit of sleep over it. I buy bikes to ride and enjoy, I never plan on making money. I don't give a flip about my resale either. I buy a bkie because it appeals to me.

When I bought my Firebolt, I bought it before it came out. Back in Feb. I called my local dealer told him the first blue that comes into Hawaii is mine. Didn't care about the reviews or the comments of the Buell haters. Just knew I had to have it. Now it gets shipped to Maryland! Starts in Michigan, goes to Hawaii gets about 1K miles on it and then goes to Maryland. Hell the bike has traveled farther than I have on it!

I walk into the shop, I get a saleman, I point to the bike I want, I say "you see that bike?" They say "yeah", I say "It's mine, do the paperwork, I want to go ride" They usually freak out in dis-belief but run off and draw it up.......

Of course, I paid 10,900 for my 02 SBX,

I know, I suck and I am a *********...............

Gee and all these years I thought buying and selling motorcycles was the biggest investment potential, even over buying real estate.

I would have thought that if I bought a new vehicle that I would resell after run in for more than I paid for just because I owned it.

Of course it is common sense that once whatever it is you buy, the minute it has the plate and you take it out the door, it drops in value. Just a big fact of life.

Read the part of my signature about choices. I will never sell my S even to upgrade to the latest model. See no point with all I have done to it.

What share of our econmoy didn't thake a hit when the econmy slowed? The manufactors still need to move product and price consessions are one of the things they have to do. What I lost in equity in my bike, maybe $2,500? Nothing compared to the stock market and my personal income, everything else? Get used to it
