Falling Leaf anyone?

Pretty much my last chance at a rally this year. Not sure but will try real hard to pull it together to make it. Anybody else interested?

I will most likely be there. You'll recognize me as the winner of the raffle airhead.

Expect to be there Thursday; will leave the Ural home this year. Spent 15 out of 18 days on it this month (and put on a new pusher tire this month, it blew 15 miles from home, wore plumb through the cords).

Weekend plans have been altered a bit. Heading down to the Rally Friday early evening with 2 others (hopefully). Staying Friday night only, heading to NW Arkansas shortly after sun-up Saturday morning.

If things go to plan, I should be pulling into the fairgrounds shortly after 5pm tomorrow. Dad unfortunately had to back out, but Ed is going to make it down.

For any of the guys showing up today, or before I arrive tomorrow, where are you planning to set up camp?

Bill, I'm hoping to be heading south out of Potosi around 8am. Here is the route I'll be taking...

I'll be solo on a Mandarin '99. If you see me and want to pull off for a 5 min stop, just flash your high beams at me.

Most of the pelicans that attend camp up on the hill which would be on the left side of your image between what appears to be a row of 4 hay bales and the upper left point of the perimeter road. Yes if I see you, we will stop and say hi.

I went into Gateway BMW (St. Louis) a few weeks ago to see if they had an R1200RS demo yet. They didn't, but Tom said it was on order and should be there in a month or so. Anyway, he called Wednesday and it's in. They are bringing it down to Falling Leaf for test rides if anyone is interested in giving it a shot. Unfortunately, I won't have the time, but much better roads around Potosi, than metro STL, for a proper test ride.

Ho hum, another FL is over.
I think it's 10 in a row for me. As usual, some great old friends showed up as well as some great new ones.
Five of us went for a ride early Saturday (if early means before noon).

A spirited ride, or at least it was for me. 15 miles from returning we came across this incident.

Occurred in front the second rider in our group, John said he almost ran over the guy's (helmeted) head as he was rolling along the edge of the road. Fortunately the most serious injury was to his pride. New rider, bike still had paper plates. We got the thing running (and steering) and on the shoulder; told him we would escort him if he wanted to limp to Potosi. But he said his three buddies should be coming back for him shortly. And we saw them coming not long after we left.
I came across them in town sometime before 6, they said everything was ok, all things considered.
I left Sunday several hours later than normal (retirement has caused some changes), had breakfast in Salem. An hour later I took a break in the woods (about the only dirt I rode for the weekend (). I heard a couple HD's go by; I was about geared up when I heard some different bikes go by. Caught up with them in a few miles.
It was Bill and his son, I followed them to Salem (AR). How come you never rode at that pace when you were leading me to/from Potosi?
Your son looks good on an S btw. I think my kid is still a bit torqued at me for selling mine.

Had a great time at the rally. My son and I rode our R1100S's up Saturday. We met pp member BMWR502, near Alton MO. on Hwy 19, and visited for a few, then when I started my bike, it was misfiing, but cleared up after a few minutes. Stopped at Winona for gas and it started running bad again, and we turned around to head home… but after a few miles it cleared up, so we went to the rally, and it ran great the whole way. Got to see all the regular attenders, which makes the trip worth while. Mundis and his entourage always give the camp a homey feel, and it is great to have friends like that. Jarhead rider also was there. (we bought his R1100S a year ago for my son) Keith was in his truck with a 690 Duke which he had hauled in from Oklahoma. Sunday morning as we were packing up I started my S to see how it was running and it would only run on one cylinder… You could here the spark popping to the head on the right side. Spark plug Cap resistor had failed. Keith Offered to haul my bike home for me and let me ride his Duke home, which I accepted thankfully. Keith (jarhead rider) is one of the nicest guys around… For the record I have met lots of really great people from this board over the years… I encourage people that post here to try and get out and meet one another…. You will be surprised at what a wonderful bunch of people hang out here.

My ride home.

Add Keith to the list of Pelican's that have stayed under my roof…. Steak dinner for his kindness.

Rally

It was nice meeting the Pelicans at the rally. Had a great time around the campfire, and on the roads around Potosi. We definitely had the best group there, all good people.

Unfortunately my stay at the rally was short lived, but it was nice meeting the few pp members that I met. Hope you all had a good time there, Arkansas was gorgeous with the weather we had in the Midwest this weekend.

Let's do it again next year.

Finally got home today after dropping Bills bike at his place and enjoying a great steak dinner. Then I had to go back to Potosi and retrieve my 'Stitch jacket from Huddle House after leaving it there after breakfast on Sunday morning.
Was a really great weekend.

For any of the guys that rode out on P Saturday morning... The vehicle sitting on the left side of the road with all the little signs, probably snapped your photo. I had completely forgotten to check, and it just popped in my head this afternoon.

He's asking $4.50 for a digital file, and varying prices for prints and mouse pads...etc.

I saw your bike up on the hill when we were walking around, but didn't see any people around. Hopefully next time.
