What's On Your Head?

Here's an interesting take on a new helmet design, what do you think? Me I'm not feeling like a crash test dummy just yet.

let's see it get through the european testing standards.

Thanks for sharing, I think it looks promising. I have owned a Shuberth and think this may be better method for securing a split shell design helmet on the human head.

Don't need a new hat but I may check the Vozz out next time if they are still in business.

Shoei Neotec. I've had lots of different helmets in the past. Shoei just seem to fit me better

Shoei Neotec also. Fit is great and the versatility is outstanding.

I too have a Neotec. I was also looking at the Schuberth but it was $250 more than Shoei. The next one will be Schuberth...

Heard great things about Ruby (France) but they are out of business.

when i have the choice, i've been wearing agvsport rossi series helmets for about 10 years.

i'll be changing to the new 6D Helmets street version when it's available.
if it's half as good as their motocross helmet, it'll be better than anything else i've ever worn.
the technology they're using is beyond other helmets and pro mx riders have shown that it works.
(one of the better known pros was caught wearing a 6D during weekday practice and his contracted race helmet on race day).

That's some nice technology in those helmets Brad!
I have gotten used to my Neotec with the flip up and don't really want to go back to a regular full face helmet for the street.

Cheers

well drop, your helmet only has a 5 year shelf life, so maybe next round?

the feedback on the 6d has been nothing but praise from riders and track doctors, along with hushed conversations and worried looks from other helmet manufacturers.

bob weber made a big leap forward with this helmet.
reminds me of when the leatt neck brace came on the scene, which i still wear when i go riding in the twisties.

Wow, $845.00 for a motocross bucket and they don't even have the one you pictured for sale. Can we say $1K plus possible. It may be a great idea and helmet but at those prices, I'll definitely pass.

Why aren't more electronics integrated into helmets. Bluetooth is just the beginning.

Why not a solar powered radar/laser detector replete with heads up display and audio warnings through the aforementioned Bluetooth?

An antenna on the tippy top would have maximum, 360 degree, unobstructed reception.

If one prefers to travel incognito, the antenna could be disguised as an unexpected companion.

And, not to forget those always fashion forward 1%ers.

If you have a Shoei and it fits as it should, your next will not be a Schuberth unless you like headaches. These two have massively different fits/shape and if you fit one, you will most definitely not fit the other. And if both fit equally well (bad), then neither is fitting properly.

Always surprises me how so many people think they can just get whatever helmet brand/type they happen to like or is recommended by others.

some people have pumpkin heads.
some people have watermelon heads.
i've seen people crush the styro liner because of headaches.
i've seen people stuff rags in helmets because they were too loose.

having been through BHT (blunt head trauma), i can't believe people don't take their helmets more seriously by making sure they have a solid, comfortable fit.

yep, good helmets are coming up to, and past, the thousand dollar mark.
which is about a tenth of what a day in the hospital can run ya.

it's the old Bell helmet message of "what's your head worth?".

Brad if you get your head rattled in a $500.00 or $1500.00 helmet it's all the same. Carbon Fiber helmets provide no more protection and sometimes less then a fiberglass composite.

Have you ever seen what happens with carbon fiber when it shatters. Besides, Carbon Fiber technology used in Motorcycle Helmets isn't pure Carbon Fiber. It's also a composite, like Fiberglass. I don't know how helmet makers can justify prices in the $1000.00+ range, when they protect no better than their predecessor. Lighter weigh sure but I don't have a problem with keeping my head up.

Proclaiming a $1000.00+ helmet will protect you better than a $500.00+ helmet is just wishful thinking.

Well, my Shoei is few years old and I should be looking for a new lid in a couple of years. Guess what, the next one will be whatever helmet brand I happen to like. Schuberth will be first on the short list of brands I consider. Type will most likely remain modular.
