Valve Clearance Increase

Seems someone lamented that no technical questions came up any more... Here goes.
Outside of me screwing up, what would cause an increase in valve clearance on the scale of .020 in? I would think like the airheads they would go tight more so than lose more than a .001in for wear in a 6,000 maintenance cycle.

I am hoping this and a TB sync will go a long way to helping my running rich issue and crappy idle as well as the sneezing it does from time to time.

As always Thank You!

They're gummed up with carbon from puttering around like an old man instead of flogging the crap out of it like it wants & needs?

I didn't realize you were sitting Bee-itch on her. Just kidding! Don't start a war.
I can't help it when commuting as the traffic around Stump Town is 0 to 20 max stuck behind all the the Leaves, Prius, Smart cars and bicycles. However when I get to one of the good open roads she is flogged so all the carbon is blown out.

Not my vid and not my ride plus Granite to Ukiah is the better way. And he doesn't have any of the good and tight sections but the sweepers at 90 are a blast.

Yes Intake was ~.026 top and bottom left side only. Lock nuts were tight. I don't have the fancy feelers with the plastic handle I just use 2 of .006 & .012 regular feeler gage taken out of the set. I am hoping I just screwed up but I am pretty careful not 15 pages of annual but careful.
