o2 sensor wires too short for new y pipe

Just installing a laser y pipe on my 99 r1100s only trouble is the bung for o2 sensor is several inches back from where it was on the cat converter. Uurrgh! Any chance there is a simple solution to my dilemma. seems odd but likely the location of sensor has changed with different years.

Do I have to cut and splice an extention to the wires?

Any wisdom would be appreciated big time!

if you remove the body work and tank you can reroute the wires so that they will reach.

Good news

There is enough length in there, that is great. Anything else I should do while in there? Can the tank be lifted up without removing fuel lines etc.

Thanks for the help on this!!!

It can be carefully lifted up without disconnecting if you have someone to help hold it there while you do the rest of the work. The later models definitely have quick disconnects which makes it painless, I don't know if earlier models have them though. If you do have quick disconnects I'd just take the take off entirely and check / clean everything under there while you're at it.

After removing the right side panel I was able to use a long screw driver to reach and slide two zip ties off the looped up o2 sensor wire harness. Rerouted it and all done. SmileWavy now on to the cam chain tension-er replacement and the oil sight glass too. Good times...
