Back In The Fold
"Candy" is back where she belongs!
Just had to share a funny story about this bike. I sold this bike along with an '09 GS exactly one year ago to buy a new 2015 GS. I figured I could get by with one bike and wouldn't miss the "S" even though I had always lusted for one. I figured it would just pass with time. It didn't! :) To make a long story short, I emailed the guy that bought my S on a whim, and just asked him if he ever decided to sell it, to please let me know. He responded relatively quickly and asked if I was actually serious. It turns out that he had just purchased a new vehicle and was not riding the S, so he had just decided to sell it. In fact he had just posted an add about an hour before receiving my email. Very Twighlight Zone! In any case, I drove down and it was still in perfect condition and he hardly used it, so she came home with me! I bought the bike in the first place because I just loved the look and enjoyed looking at it every time I went out in the garage. Its still the case and something I missed for the year she was gone. In any case, I figured that the small community of folks that love these bikes would at least appreciate a good story around one. Now if anyone has a Pit Bull rear stand, let me know! Like an idiot, I sold mine when I sold her! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/paddel.gif http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...psbdoc2cnc.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...psnc9k6iu9.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...psrv2pkvbv.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j8...pswhvsv3br.jpg |
Fantastic story and a gorgeous scoot. I tend to buy things and hold on to them, so I can only imagine missing something that special for a year only to have it come home.

A nice story with a happy ending, which applied to my buyback of my R1100s. Which was essentially immaculate. As the man had taken great care of it for six years (except the front fender).
Unfortunately, a few years ago I ran across my candy-cane R1200s that I had previously sold to a guy from Denver who "Just had to have it." And wouldn't leave me alone until I sold it to him. It was, at that point, a junker. Not well taken care of at all and was really quite depressing to me. |
I couldn't but my s back. But found one just like it and drove 1000 miles to have it.
Almost as good... the way I see it. |
After being away from BMW's for 4 years. I just came back too...and bought a Candy R12S...and got a rear stand in the deal...which I don't want...
Seems too bulky to ship but make me an offer and figure out how to ship it and it's yours. |

I remember that picture Dean! Only because I was thinking, how could he do that! 😀
By the way, since I'm up in Granite Bay, any Bay Area contacts that you still have that would be a good place to have the Ohlins rebuilt? I know you're out east now, but just curious. I was thinking about having that done over the winter. Bob |

I had the same Candy cane twice also. She's gone, but I couldn't stay away and I have a Yellow one in the garage now.

Thanks Pir8te. I know Dave Moss from a long time ago and racing. I didn't know the shop did Ohlins rebuilds. Appreciate it.

San Jose BMW also rebuilds Ohlins, they also have a Shock Dyno that can be used to diagnose shock problems.

I own a 2000 R1100S and may acquire a 1200S after they drop lower in value. That's how I got the 1100, I bided my time. So, there may be a 1200 in my future. I am happy to see your 1200 once again under your ownership!
