System Case Liner

I am looking for system case liners and have found these so far:

Saddle bag liners from www.helen2wheels.com
Kathy's system case liners from www.bobsbmw.com

Does anybody have any preference on these and do Helen’s take into account the unusual shape of the system cases? (as the product displayed on the site doesn’t).

Thanks,

Tom.

I use the ones from Kathy. The quality is good and they fit the bags really well. They have extra pouches that take advantage of the unusual shape of the bags. I think there a good deal for the money (a lot cheaper than the BMW ones).

I have the Helen TwoWheels bag liners for my city lids. I bought them used, threw them in the wash and they looked brand new. Seems to be designed well. I use the left bag liner as my office breifcase.

Try the RKS bag liners. They are shaped correctly, work well, and are only $99 for the pair.

Yeah thanks for all the groovy links, the Kathy's look nice, and just the ticket for inspiring multi-state (i.e. rainy) travel... functional gear to complement the (anticipated) new saddle.

Hey Dances, are your hard bags leaking in the rain? Is this why you are looking to bag liners? I was under the assumption that the hard bags were water tight. I've not had a chance to test mine out in the rain yet.

I've ridden many miles in the rain and have found the system cases to be totally water tight.

I've only got one experience with these bags in a fairly heavy downpour, and everything inside stayed fairly dry, that is not to say the bags are waterproof. However, wrapping your stuff in plastic grocery bags will usually make it waterproof. The appeal of the liners is, in addition to their waterproofing, that you can get all your stuff out and leave the cases on the bike, not that it is hard to remove them...

I have also found that the bag liners make packing easier, and more efficient. I can actualy fit more in my bags using the liners, than by not using them. The thing I have found is, that you can pack the liners to the brim, and you will still get them in the bags. By trying to pack the pannier only (by rolling and stuffing) I can only get about 3/4 of the load I can get by stuffing the liners. Go figure.

jdlowery, do the city liners fill the entire case. i.e. do they have an extra comparment on the side that fits into the unusual case design or are they just like the photo that Tomas pointed to?

Tom.

Tom.

They are just like the photo except narrower. There is room to fit a small roll behind the liner bags in the odd shaped area of the system cases. I also have room to fit files, etc. against the inside lid of the cases.
