Swap R1200RT telelever into R1200S?
I am in the process of updating the suspension of my newly acquired 1200S. Unfortunately it did not come with the sport package. One way or the other I will acquire some Ohlin's shocks and some HP or BST's wheels over the winter.
What I like to know is it worth the trouble of also putting in the 1200 R/T telelever to quicken up the suspension or will moving up to a taller 190/55x17 paired with light forged or carbon wheels be enough? Anyone here do this mod? |

I was just reading old threads about this yesterday. Search for A-arm. Here's one.
You will sacrifice some stability under hard braking but steering will be much quicker. The swap was said to be a better way to achieve that than jacking the rear up. |

I don't notice any loss of stability under hard braking on my R12S with RT A-arm. But yes the steering is much quicker, very telepathic in a good way. But I also have gone up to 190/55 rear tire. The combination is fantastic IMHO. Chicken strips (if any) are perfectly even front-to-rear. With the narrower rim, you might not need to go to taller profile rear. But if you do end up putting a wider rim on the rear, then I'd say definitely. Lighter wheels are a quite separate argument and there's no question that lighter is better. That one is just a matter of $$$. I think you're going to have a big smile on your face when you're done-
