Don in Aus ! Hi!
I noted your hot weekend run down the Putty. Have just pulled in tonight from a trip up thunderbolts way to Armidale across the top and down through Dorrigo up to The Pub with No beer and then today back to Port and up the Oxley and back down the Thunderbolts. Yesterday was as hot as I have seen it on a bike. Even with the aeroflow jacket I was a ball of sweat. Passed Bushfires up the top near Ebor and even the normally cool Rainforest was hot. Today was a little better on the coast and most pleasant up through Gingers Creek and actually got rain on the way down the mountain. The Oxley is in as good a condition as I have seen it and a pleasure to do mid week . Aus. is certainly a land of contrasts. 800 km. in 2 days and about 30o C range in temperature. As a side note .. I got "blown away" by a little Hyundai Excel from Walcha. I was cruising on 125km. And he took me at 140 +. I followed at about 400 metres hoping he would catch the "tickets". He lifted the game to 160 and held it all the way to the top of the Mountain. I didn't think the Excel could do it !!. Down the mountain he spent more time sideways than forward. But cleared the way for an unbelievable run home . Best couple of days I've had away in ages ... wish now I had invited a few mates for the run Bees. |
